Mesh
Got a pace fmic on a classic and wanted some subtle mesh to protect it from stones ect.
I would like some similar to what's on an evo 6 or 22b, ie black 10mm? squares. Has anybody got pics of theirs, or any ideas where I can get mesh from.
All I seem to be able to find is the galvanised wire stuff at Wickes or B&Q, which I thought would look a bit rough even after painting.
Cheers, Daz.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
my advice?
Take the lid off a server cabinet

its a bit smaller than the 10mm you wanted though!
Try Geo Spence's on Tong Road, Just of Inner Ring Road.
Personally I wouldnt use mesh but...

This shows a bit of the stuff I have in the top & bottom openings:

It's 16swg stainless mesh, 10mm gap / 1.6mm wire - seem to recall it's named "2-mesh" but I'd have to look it up again. I'd calculated this spec gave me the most air throughput (ratio of gap to wire thickness) and hopefully a good deal of protection from any flying debris...
It came from Bethel Rhodes Wireworkers in Keighley but others should make it - you can also get it chromed and "crinkly" like on the front of jags / rovers etc
Only downside is you really need a U-channel around the edges to stop it falling apart as it's not spotwelded at each "crossing" like some other types are.

Dazc - I meant that you have to buy the correspondingly sized U-section from the wire place to fit the mesh - you're not going to have one on the car already...
My top mesh doesn't have a u-section but it's bent / angled to fit the inside of the plastic bit of the grille so this holds it together. The lower one has the section as it's flat and I quess it would shake apart eventually
It's possible to get mesh with a minor spot weld at each junction which then wouldn't need a u-section.
My grille originally came with an aluminium expanded metal (expamet) insert but it looks exceedingly Chavish
and I prefered a bit of strength to the setup

I'm with you now APPLE, can see where your coming from, but in all honesty I think it looks a bit too daring for what I'm after. I will look at some though and hopefully that will help me decide..
CataIunya, you must avoid the gritters too then? Mines similar but the enevitable will happen sooner or later. Hence the need for the mesh. I just want it to be functional and not really a styling feature if you know what I mean, but I dont want chicken wire. Mitsi evo 6 style mesh. Cheers, Daz.

Do a search for pics, but that looks like the stuff on the rb5, from TSL
