Default Removing rear lights on classic

Anyone done this and tell me how easy it is to do? Fancy a go at tinting the rear indicator lenses just until I get round to buying STi rears!

Cheers in advance!

hi mate take off the rear carpet inside the boot. open the 4 bolts with a socket. then your best bet to take these out is get a hair dryer around the lights to heat up the silicone glue around the lights. then prize them out with a screwdriver. but the black glue does go all over, does get a bit messy. When you put them back in make sure you put loads of silicone around the lights, as they have a tendancy to leak water in afterwards.

On mine (saloon) there are 6 nuts, and I did it by just pulling the trim forwards to get access, and then pulling the lights off: it WAS warm weather though, the black goo was so sticky I re-used it!

Doesn't take long to get them out if you use the hairdryer on the sealant. I also reused the black sticky stuff, but now I often have water in the boot. Better to re-seal I think

Yes, I'd be inclined to agree re re-using sealant, I think I was lucky

I'd be VERY careful using silicone or Puri Flex to reseal though, if you do, you may NEVER get 'em out again!

The correct stuff is non-setting mastic, available from caravan dealers

Hope that helps,
