Spoiler for MY03 WRX
I'm thinking of getting an STi8 rear spoiler and quite fancy the Dr Motorsport one - http://www.drmotorsport.co.uk/Spoiler%20STi%208%20R.htm.
Has anyone got one, and if so what are they like ... would you recommend it?
Thanks

I have one. Very good and you have to know what you're looking for to tell it from an original. My brake light has recently formed condensation, but they have offered to replace it FOC Just need to take it off and post it back.

going into the bodyshop next Tuesday. guy admitted liability so getting a courtesy car (mondeo!) and no excess to pay.
Hopefully it'll be OK, as its the same bodyshop my local dealer uses. No idea how long it'll take.

I used all 10 fixing points and trim tape all the way around, its easy to do, and a bit of piece of mind.
Colour was perfect and to be honest, a better finish than the car!
I dont have it anymore though as my mate part ex'd his STI (with a real spoiler on), so we swoped them over.
The only thing is this one flaps about as your driving, the DRM one didn't.

i've just order a replica STI one after seeing 1 fitted to another car. The spoiler was moulded from an origional one so is identical (except brake light is red), it even has the round things underneath.
It costs £400 painted and includes fitting at your place.
It uses the origional holes and also 2 more can be drilled in the centre
i'm having it fitted next weekend so i'll let you know the results, the other 1 i saw was 100% perfect finish which is why i've ordered 1

rich - i've ordered mine from a company in Stockport called B Wilson Styling Kits - 0161 8811101
I only ordered it after seeing 1 in the flesh fitted on another car.
It looks identical to the origional, if you look under the top wing on an origional you'll see some round er things - this rep has these as well
The company make the spoiler to order (they have mould from an origional one) and come to your home/ work to fit it - this is included in the £400
i'll be at the next WYIOC meet in Huddersfield (last thursday of the month) so you can compare it to lots of origional ones that'll be there

So if I understand this right a lot of the aftermarket wings will just use the exisiting holes ?
Whereas the STI Wing uses the exisiting holes and needs extra ones ?
How do I seal the holes so I dont get rain water in etc ?
Thanks

The genuine STi 7/8 rear spoilers have captive bolts in the bottom of the spoiler. You need to have 12 holes in the bootlid to drop these through. Then you put the nuts onto the bolts from inside the bootlid.
The replica we do has the nuts captive in the bottom of the spoiler, so nothing protruding down, and you put the bolts through the bootlid and into the spoiler. So you can use the original 4 WRX holes, or any combination up to the full 12 fixings.
Most owners, just use the 4 holes, and either bond or use vehicular double sided tape around the edges of the spoiler (the tape we have is bloody strong on it's own). Very few want to drill the extra holes.
I hope that helps.
