Default Chamois?

Not really took much care of my car in the past until I bpught a scooby 2 weeks go. so I took some advice and bought an Auto Glym synthetic chamois.
Now this is the first time iv used a chamois and I cant see the point of it.
They dont seem to soak up much water. Had to keep going over the same spot just to dry the car.
Am I using it wrong?

Use a bath towel Ray. That was the advice I got from Fulham71. He sells all the cleaning gear you could ever need.

I would've done if it hadn't been pissing it down all day! I'll do it during the week. Towel should do the job fine.

as Jason says
A bath towel wash without conditioner is the best way to dry a car
Always wash the towel after use to remove any dirt !

get one of those hydra blades - miles quicker. Just use a towel to finish off.

Hydra Blade, then go over with Chamois afterwards. Quick, easy and gets car dry.

Be careful what type towel you use, as some materials will scratch your car. Not noticable until you catch it in the correct sun light.

Well we have some towel material at work, it comes packed in a big bundle, but basically its lots of towels. Its a bit like terry toweling but a bit rougher.
Had a work experience kid in the other week, and i got him to clean th gaffers car, he used these to dry it off, and it left a few scratch marks, you cant see them only if you get the sun gleaming on it.

Best toweling stuff to buy, is a big roll of that cream coloured cloth, its very thin but good, i think its also know as muslim cloth or something like that, not sure, though.

muslim cloth?

does it make your car go like a bomb and give you suicidal tendancies?

Standard bath towel is fine
Can use a water blade first but make sure it has a long blade
Are you sure the scratch marks werent there before ? and are now more noticable now its clean ?

I've tried a bath towel but still prefer a water blade and a chamois.
