Question

i was told today by a Subaru dealer that the only blue my00 are available in is the dark metallic (Mica) blue. I have seen a couple of wagons in Rally Blue, is this a JDM colour?

Sonic blue was also a colour, but for Euro & EIRE cars only I believe.

Petenaud's spot on - the MY00 changed to "deep blue mica", rather than dark blue mica.

The only way of getting a UK spec car with Sonic blue was to import one from mainland EU. The factory happily made them, but Subaru UK didn't want the colour for anything other than special editions...

Don't forget that Euro cars are UK Spec. Everything would have been the same except for the CAT 1 alarm, which will almost certainly be a retrofit anyway. The only other difference that springs immediately to mind is the three year warranty, which will have expired now anyway (Euro cars had one year).

Price of course is the main benefit, Euro's were significantly cheaper new, remain so on the 2nd hand market.....but that argument has been done to death on here more times than anyone cares to remember. A search on SN will give you more thoughts than you can shake a stick at.

I have a MY00 Sonic blue Belgian import, the only difference indeed is the alarm. I think it is worth the effort finding one. Everyone comments on the colour and say's that 'you don't see many'. I my opinion it is by far the nicest colour. I LOVE IT!!

Derek, How did you go about finding and then importing your car...what is the cost differential between a UK car and a Euro car (if any...)?

Cheers,
Ian
