Well i got my car back and it was a good job and i was worrying over nothing really.
The only gripe i had with them is that i mentioned to have the front bumper/kit fitted a bit tighter on one of the sides and it had not been done.
After making a visual inspection and pointing out some little bits here and there which a guy went over with 3M finesse cleaner, i said i wanted the bumper sorting and they took 20 minutes to do it.
How the bumper is held on is that there is a plastic clip that holds it up on both sides of the arch and it had broke so they tried to put another one on but it was just too flimsy and they ended up putting a screw and threaded metal bit on the other side and screwed it up tight.
I then also noticed that the graphics guys that fitted the replacement stickers back on the car they made up had fitted one of the STi sticker on the side door above where the one on the left was.
So they replaced this one and moved it to where it should of been.
At £20 a sticker and i had 6 done i am going to make sure it is right.
Apart from all this the car is looking good now and i am happy with the result.

Another little side note, off topic:

I was racing a Ford Escort RS Turbo and this car was extremely fast and it kept up to me which was a shock.
I then spoke to the guy and looked at the car and it had a 1.8 Zetec engine in it with some mad boost and other mods inside it.
My question is this, should that car been able to have kept up with me as i am running well over 310BHP?
What sort of other mods can i do to get some more power out of the car?
I already have an upgraded ECU and an stainless exhaust system in place so what the hell are my options now?
Can i run more boost and if so how am i going to do this when i have a jap ECU inside (Eifel Prova Concept of Nurburgring)...?
cheers for the feedback everyone!!

/me goes off to get some more speed out of the engine

Question

Ok just a quick question.
I recently had 2 separate incidents (man the irony of that word) with idiots opening the doors into the side of my doors and suffice to say i have sent the car in to get the 2 dents sorted out with a respay on the 2 doors.
While i was at it i also asked them to respray the front bumper as it was a little shabby and to get the car in A1 condition.
Now my question is this.
The company are not using the original Subaru silver paint but are mixing there own up to match.
Is this ok to do and the norm in respraying cars. Or should i have gone for the original paint.
What i am worried about is the paint will not match up to the car as much as i like but then again these people are good and professionals so am i worrying over nothing?
I only ask because i was supposed to get the car back on Friday, then it was delayed until Saturday and then they rung me up saying they had finished the car but unfortunatley the colour does not match up enough so they are doing it again.
So anyway, do i need to worry? and is it normal for people here to get there car resprayed in sections where needed without original paint?

Thanks all in advance and i look forward to hopefully your good news..........

As long as they are mixing it correctly it should be ok, ive have a few bits on mine done and you cant tell. The company i use, uses Spies Hecker paint.

It is normal for places to to mix paint to get an exact match. I think they have some optical gadgets to measure the colour.

Since the paint on your car may have deteriorated slightly over time and also the fact that the paint Subaru supply to the bodyshop is hightly unlikely to be the exact same batch your car was painted from - Subaru paint would not guarantee an exact match anyway.

Doesn't sound very professional that they need a couple of goes to get it right though

Hi just to let you know a friend of mine is a car paint mixer and it is totally normal for a bodyshop to mix their own paint, his work even mixes the paint for the local bmw garages, so even they do not have their own paint.

Main thing is as long as it matches no prob, and like was said the advantage of them mixing it is any slight change in paint shade from over the years and they can change the shade of their paint to match.

hope this helps.

p.s when you check the car after it is sprayed do not check the door against the wing ect. look a bit further along as they do not normally tell you this but they will slightly overspray onto the next panel to make the paint blend in better!

There are normally about 3-5 variants of each colour to take into account any fading of the paint which it will as it gets older. They will match it by eye from the chart but it can only really be seen if it is a good match when it is on the car. Silver is one of the most difficult to match, so I wouldn't worry if they take two goes to get it right.
