Mondeo side protection strips - do they fit ?

Read posts many moons ago that seemed to state that the Mondeo Strips could be used as a cheaper alternative to the rather large and costly Subaru Items....
After passing many Mondeo's on the M'way
during the week, I noticed that a 1996-2001 Model Mondeo has a rather slim body protection strip, that is of similar shape to the crease found on an Impreza flanks.
Does anyone now exactly how long this strip is, as if it is long enough I think it would be a great and more subtle alternative (and probably a damn site cheaper).
