Thinking of getting one due a dodgy back.

Are they a bit harsh on the MY99 paint/body work ?

Any thoughts?

They are fine if you use them properly, many people press down on them which is the wrong way to do it, just let the circular motion do the work. It's basically doing the exact same as you'd be doing with your hand so saves you the effort and is very quick and effective.

Also make sure the cloth is the right kind and is totally clean (if you drop it bin it cos even small bits of grit will kill the paint) that applies to manual and electric polishing.

I've done both my cars with an electric one and there's not a mark on the paint of either both turned out really well.

Thanks Paul.

Just out of interest ... what model/type did you get? Argos are doing a mains powered one for £15.99 (reduced from £30ish) which I'm tempted with.

I don't see the point for spending a fortune, or am I wrong?

I got mine from Makro, was around £20+VAT IIRC. There ain't much to them so a cheap one should be fine, you don't want too much power anyway cos with a low powered one the head stops spinning if you press too hard.

Just check the polishing boots (cloth one for applying and fluffy one for removing) are decent and don't seem harsh. I can't really see you going wrong with a mains one though regardless of low cost unless it breaks down!

I got one from Costco and its been excellent. Just take your time with it, and remember its only good for polishing - not t-cutting as a friend out the hard way LOL! It saves a load of time, you really only need a wipe over for the the harder to get at areas.

Good bit of kit.
