what shampoo is best....

In my own experience i have found Halfords own advanced car shampoo to be the best stuff. No streaking and really gets the grim off without stripping the wax. Top Stuff at a budget price better than Auto glym in my opinion and half the price.

apparently , a survey was carried out recently and some of the less exspensive stuff was just as good as the more costly stuff like Autoglym etcc , but ive used it for years ,,never let me down ,and get top class results everytime ,, so i guess it comes down to what ever you are happy with at the end of day

i use autoglym at the moment but it dont foam up at all when you mix it up with the water, what do those guys at the car washes use, they shampoo the whole car and then water it down, when i try that half the shampoo is already dried up

I use the standard Halfords one (in the blue bottle with a black cap) for washing the car down. Does the trick then I pile in with all the Autoglym goodies to get it shiny.
Just got some Extra Gloss Protection that goes on after the Super Resin Polish. Will have to try that out now the weather is better and its worth washing the car.

I agree halfords stuff is good , just remember not to use washing up liquid (takes off the wax , and has salt in it I think )

if you go to the autoexpress website ull see they tested about 10 different shampoos 2 weeks ago.
turtle zip wash and wax was came out as best and was cheap too.
There were a few others which did ok as well

I'm an AutoGlym man myself - use the shampoo every week and the polishes twice a year (although the Scooby came with some dealer protection supposedly not needing waxing for three years?).
The swissoil/Wax Wizard threads (search) on here sound like good products though - and some of the pictures people have posted are outstanding.

I have used the Halfords stuff for ages and it always does the job. Although I garage it during winter.
Can anyone recommend a decent polish without spending the guts of £100? I have tried Autoglym, Mer, Turtle Wax Metallic and although very easy to put on I don't think they last too long. My Scooby is WR Blue so it's metallic.
cheers
Andy

Save up and get some swissol. A tiny drop of the shampoo in a resevoir size bucket will wash the entire WRC competitors. All the products last yonks and so does the finish on the car - so it will be worth it in the long run

I've been using Turtle Zip Wax for years, brilliant and cheap. Foams up nicely and leaves a nice shine. Try it you won't be dissappointed.
