i think the best thing to do would be change the bumper, i know you probably like that one but you could consider changing if no one can come up with splitter.

Most splitters could fit this bumper with a little modification - but there's not really any point on dressing up a 1.6L is there?

A front splitter is usually used for aggressive air-cooling - a 1.6L is unlikely to get that hot, and that bumper isn't designed for cooling ducts - it's a functional bumper used to house the lights and finish the car's nose. I know, because I've got the same bumper.

I'm upgrading to a MY2000 bumper - if you really want a front splitter you should consider doing the same!

Cool

Hey Stevey,

Mine's not a 1.6L - it's a 2.0L non-turbo wagon. I doubt that putting skirts etc. on will make it look odd - I've seen plenty from the factory with skirts on and standard bumpers - it's not that noticeable.

I say if you're really worried about it looking off, save your money for some suspension kit - drop it down 30mm and watch the gap between the arch and wheel disappear. I think the money spent on a front splitter/spoiler would be better used elsewhere on the car.

Maybe you should post a pic up? That would be easier to give opinion on?

At the end of the day mate, it's your car so you do what you want with it.

Stevey - I haven't got any pics to put up, but if you have a look at any of the retailers on scoobynet (click on shop.scoobynet.co.uk at the top of the page) you should find plenty of options, both with, and without the front splitter/spoiler.

Hey Dyney.
What car is that? just an Italian model, or what?
I have a 1.8 GL, and the front grille on that picture looks far better than mine..

Franx - depends on what Manufacturer Year. I think that model that Dyney has posted up is an MY98 or MY99. I can say that with confidence as I have an almost identically-styled car (well it was, right before I logged onto Scoobynet and got bit by the modders bug).

The front grill and bumper are the most obvious "facelifts" that the imprezas underwent in the late 1990s.

Hey stevey

Sorry man, there's very little modding going on in my area which involves anything less than a 2L turbo...as for the clear indicators - I also considered that, but I think the best you might be able to do is find a breakers yard and source some non-subaru type parts. I'm sure other models of cars would have "clear" indicators which might fit.

As for myself, I've gone the dark side and had a complete front end conversion to the MY00 WRX bumper, clear indicators and all.
