Grating?:
OK, lets assume you mean mesh?
Buy a sheet from Halfords/local car shop, of your choice of colour, pattern, size of holes, etc. Make sure it's big enough, and you'll pay about £11.
Using SHARP small tinsnips, (I bought some from "FocusDIY" for about £4, and have used them for other things since), OR a GOOD pair of kitchen scissors when wife is out:, cut the mesh roughly to size for the aperture you want it in. Make sure you have it the right way up: it does look different depending on which way up it is, so choose b4 cutting: stand it up, retreat 10 yards or so, and look at it, repeat other way up.
>>>You DO NOT have to remove the old plastic grille, ie:cut it away, as
a) it's invisible when the new stuff is in place, and
b) it gives you something to fasten the new one to, and
c) It does NOT affect cooling; I towed a caravan right down France with it in place, and no probs!<<<
Now sit in front of the car with your cut piece, and trim LITTLE bits off here and there until it's a good fit. Make sure you've got it level when you cut it, or the mesh will look wonky.
Remove front grille, (Between lights), place new mesh where you want it, and secure in place with SMALL zip ties, done up from behind, or pieces of copper wire, twisted up from behind. You only need a couple or so on each side, and trust me, they're invisible from normal viewing distances!
When I did mine, I put tiny pieces in my front splitter, held from behind with clear silicone, a larger piece in the lower grille, and two smaller shaped pieces in the upper grille. All came from the same £11 sheet. My splitter enabled me to relocate my number plate, so my lower grille now sports the Scooby stars badge, sprayed on through a mask, in white on the black grille.

I've had that problem before myself alcazar. I tried to upload what you sent me to no avail. I just shoved them into Adobe 7 and copied them into a new document and saved them before uploading to Turbosport. I don't know why it works but it does.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply, been plumbing for the old boy today.
I made the stencil myself:
Check available size, and draw two ovals one inside the other on the computer.
Print it off, then go onto Subaru official website, and using a ruler and a pencil, scale the stars onto the ovals: it's not as hard as it looks, takes abt 10 minutes.
Cut it out with a NEW craft knife blade, or scalpel. Remember to leave 3 or 4 tags between the inner and outer ovals, or it all falls apart.
Take it outside, and hold it onto the grille with masking tape, then spray light coats through it: mine was done with Hammerite white, that I happened to have in the garage.
You can tidy up any bits you're not happy with using cotton buds dipped in paintbrush cleaner, or Hammerite thinners, in my case, preferably b4 the paint dries and hardens.
Don't try to be TOO perfect, remember normal viewing distances, and it's quite hard to get a perfect finish through a stencil onto a grille.
