Colour Coding Mudflaps
Hi all,
Is it possible to Paint the moulded Subaru mudflaps (not the Prodrive ones) for a MY98 Impreza Turbo? The paint has started to crack and peel off mine (again)
When I took them off to have them re-painted again the guy said he couldn't becuase while attempting to remove the old paint he ruined the surface and left it all rough. I bought a second set and after about 6 months the same is starting to happen again (even though he assured me he used the proper primer/paint and followed the correct procedure etc.)
Now I don't want to have to keep buying 4 new mudflaps (as they aren't cheap) everytime the paint starts to crack. Can any painting experts advise me on what is needed to colour code these so that the paint will not crack and stay on? Maybe these mudflaps just aren't designed to be painted in the first place?
Finally, we have these speed bumps in the car park at work and occassionaly I can hear the front mudflaps catching on them (depending on if I have any passangers in the Scoob). Methinks this isn't helping my case either as it is probably causing them to flex.
Any help/advice appreciated,
Gavin

I was told that very flexible plastic can be painted, but you need to use a good primer and acrylic paint with plasticiser added.
He added "you could probably paint a sponge!"
Not that I've tried...
