Oi, stop hijacking my threads

Have asked a similar question on the General Section too.
Posted an e-mail off to TSL as well since they sell them.

Just spoke with TSL.
The larger STI 7 scoop doesn't fit classic Scoobs.
Also, they said that if the scoop was any larger, then air flow could possibly direct airflow over the IC rather than into it.

wondered what that was. what does it actually do? allow it to fit on a MY99 to pass air through better?

I borrowed a std WRX scoop and trial fitted it to a MY97. (A WRX scoop will have the same fixings as an STI7 scoop)

It does sort of fit but leaves gaps at the front corners and would need triming at the rear corners to fit flush!
Some of the bolts/clips line up with a bit of adjustment

I'll try it again later and this time I'll remember the digi cam!!!!

Iain.

Heres the pics (finally!)
This is a MY02 WRX scoop (same base size as STI7 scoop).

As you can see the front corners are too shallow and the rears too tight and would need trimming.

A few of the mounting holes line up but not enough for a direct fit.

looks like a job from someone like Rob at MRO styling.

I did ask him about a bigger & longer scoop a few weeks back.

Question

I am also inerested about this Iain, keep us informed.
It would be nice if MRO could support an upgrade for the standard bonnet scoop as all the pre MY01 cars suffer from air flow through the I/C. I listened that the scoop you try makes things worse, I don't know why, but if I remember right the source was TSL Performance!
Cheers
JIM
