Can anyone help me on the above. Ive got a 4 door classic and now have ABW arches. I will be getting 5.114 adapters made up along with the same wheel fitment, however im not sure what et rims ill need to make sure the wheels are flush with the arches.2w Any help would be appreciated. ABW arches come in more than one width, so which with do you have?

 

Realistically I think you would need to go to 18's mate

 

Are you fitting the kit then changing the wheels? I would recommend speaking to mags at Ruislip tyres, hes supplied us with a few sets for cars with ABWs fitted.

Personally if i was doing it id go for a et 35 with a 20mm hubcentric spacer, drops the offset over stock by 35mm (will sit 35mm further out). Also make sure you get geometry done as the alignment will be different with wider track and it will handle like crap.

 

Ok basically was advised yesterday that I'll need an offset of 30 with 9inch wide rim. Also I will be changing the rims with a fitment of 5.114 along with adapters. Tyres used will be 235 40 R17. Does all this sound about right so it doesnt look stupid once the arches are fitted. Cheers chaps. John

 

sounds about right to me. do you know what the additional width of the arches will be from ABW

 

Hi Dan.. well when we measured up yesterday... we taped the arches up and from the fender to the outer edge of the arch was a 7cm gap. Off the top of my head i dont remember the spec of my current prodrive rims on now.. im guessing et 45 with a 7.5 w rim.. (17")

Im hoping the new rims with an et of 30 along with the 5.114 20mm adapter plate should be enough.

 

that would give you around et10 fitment of the wheel taking the spacer into consideration, taking the stock fitment down from an ET50 say, down to et10, thus moving the wheel hub face 40mm over what it was

 

I have be arches on my blob the wheels a re 18/10 ET 20 there's 265/40/18 hope this helps

 

Why are you fitting spacers if you are spacing the wheels to fit the Arch. Surely you would be better getting the correct wheels without the use of spacers.
I have just fitted a set of the narrow ABW arches and I will be using a 9 x17 rim ET30 but to get that to fit we have modified the front and rear arches extensively. The bumpers also have to be cut to allow clearance for the wheels. There is a lot more to this than just bolting them on.

You cannot use a Newage to compare with a classic there is not the same arch clearance or strut to wheel clearance on a classic.

 

Im not using a spacer. Im using a 5.114 adapter plate. More wheel choices with 5.114. Also I am using a 17 x9 wheel ET 30, along with considerable body work to get the fit right. I wasnt sure if your previous reply was directed at me or not.

 

You didn't mention that you had modified the body work that's why I mentioned it. What size are the spacers?
Would be interesting to see what you have done to thenwheel arches

 

20 or 25mm

 

I'm looking at the 25mm ones would be good to know what width wheels look good / suit as I saw one with blob wrx wheels and 25mm spacers looked ok but I wouldn't trust a space that wide I think

 

yeah man im not so sure myself.. im just letting this bodyshop handle these arches. Theyve done arch flares before on Subarus, so im hoping it should be all good. He told me a 9 inch wide wheel with an ET of 30 would be good enough.. then theyll cut into the arches.. bumber to make it fit and clear ok.
