Default Are classic colour coded door handles painted?

Or are they just plastic of a very similar colour?

Up to 1999 was not painted
My00 had painted handles and mirrors and blue upholstery rather then the earlier gray

Ah, sorry. I'm referring to classics such as my 97 type r that does have white handles. They seem plastic rather finished with paint that's all.

The UK cars of that date were plain grey-black plastic.
Yet ANOTHER little thing we didn't get that the Japs did.
