Default Footballers boots ??

Possibly a strange question ??!! but do footballers still get the studs on there boots checked prior to comming on ie as a sub etc ?? cant say I have seen it happen lately and just wondered if it has perhaps been dropped ?? what was the real reason for checking players boots anyway ??

i think it is done before they congregate in the tunnel usually, as they leave the dressing room and as there are four officials i can't see it taking long!

it's done so there are no illegal studs (overly long ie. rugby studs) badly worn (too short or sharp edges and i think you would be pulled for missing studs (safety issue)

occaisonally you'll see a sub be checked by the lino before he enters the pitch as the camera is often behind them then

Are you sure? Some of the boots I've seen in shops have studs that are a moulded part of the sole.

I remember when they banned metal blades. Really annoyed me as I had recently bought a really nice pair.

the players that start are checked as mentioned, they still check the subs when they come on.

Last time I got stopped was when I was wearing metal blades. All my pairs now have moulded blades and I'm fine.
