Default Looks like Hodgson not 'arry

Wouldn't have been my first choice as England manager. Anyone think he is the best person for the job?

Mods please feel free to edit the title to the correct spelling of Hodgson! Thanks.

We have done the million dollar manager thing with no success, perhaps Hodgson is worth a punt.

Another epic fail is on the cards then if Roy Hodgson takes over. I cant see any of the England squad having respecting him when he has done **** all and IMO is mediocre. I would rather have Harry in charge as it also means Tottenham Hotspuds will wonky

Brookings loathing of harry and the brown paper bags did for him.

I've no issue with Roy, could be worse.

Would have preferred Mourinho for the Euros and the world cup before he took over from Fergie, a 2 year tenure would have been ideal to usher in the next generation, dropping all the old guard in the process, we would have more to gain than lose imo. I would have thought that would have suited mourinho down to the ground.

The only good thing about Hodgson is hes not bringing baggage - we don't need a manager who is bringing his fave players with him. He MIGHT work out, I personally dont want him in charge. Pearce or Hoddle for me.

Problem with Roy is he comes across as far too nice a bloke. I'd want someone with a bit of bite in them to put the players in their place whilst on International duty which I can't see Roy doing. Venables was good at that, not someone the players should **** with. I think Harry would have been good in that respect too.

The bottom line is the FA dropped a bollock in not appointing Hiddink when he was available before he joined FC Anzhi Makhachkala on an absolute packet.

An English manager managing England for me, so my first choice would be Harry and certainly not Woy. I'd rather Stuart Pearce before him, a more passionate Englishman you'll not find.

Hello: Woy is English, born in Croydon, but CAN speak the mother tongue, unlike 'Arry who murders it.

You're just too used to the grape nosed jet engine's accent mate.

i think we have done well to get him to take the job

its the fans and the press which think England are world class and deserve a world class manager

the reality is, we are not (far from it)

average team deserves average manager imho

Only good thing about Hodgson is he doesnt bring any baggage other than possibly Gerrard from his time at Liverpool. If Arry came in we'd be playing half the Spurs team before anyone else got a look in IMO.

I would have prefered Hoddle or Pearce but the decision has been made now so lets just bloody well get on with it and look at the team to perform and not the manager

It didn't take Gerrard long to throw his hat in the ring for the captain arm band did it.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17915405

"Roy's a good man and a good manager," Gerrard said. "It's important he's given a chance and I'm looking forward to working with him again. I just wish I hadn't treated him like a **** during his time at Anfield"

Hmmmmm really Stevie ?

You missed a bit . . .

Asked whether Rooney would be handed the armband for the European Championship in June, Hodgson said: "You must be kidding. I wouldn't give that fat, bald granny ******* the steam off of my urine"

"I'd rather deep fry my genitals."

Two can play that game

What makes you think that Gerrard treated Roy badly?

There is a difference between Subtle and Blatant, although I do like the phrase I wouldn't give "add name" the steam off my urine

You can guarantee every player in the current squad will be making the same noises, as players do in these situations

I'd have chosen Psycho.

I'm only on the wind up

You're right, it's always a fresh chance for players to prove their worth when a new manager comes in. I remain unconvinced by Roy though. He comes across as a bit wet to me. I'd prefer someone who's prepared to give players a good lambasting when they deserve it.
A bit like Fer... No, it's no good . . . I can't say it
