Default The Sri Lanka v England 2012 Test Thread

Well we are now off to Sri Lanka for a brief Test series consisting of only 2 matches. What is the point you may ask? Well after the shambolic performances against Pakistan in the tests we can do with as much practice as possible against spin

Looks like Bopara is going to get a game too

Looking forward to the summer sooo much now. The Windies may not be as good as they used to be but it's still a series I really look forward to. Handing the South Africans their ***** is never a hardship either. We even get to put the pyjamas on against the convicts

1st Test 26th April

It will be an opportunity for a few of the lads to get their strike rates up especially as the first Test is in Galle. expect 600+ in the first innings

A lovely little ground which I visited many many years ago, sadly pretty much destroyed by the Tsunami as it's right on the coast line.

Eng looking good so far. Galle is notorious for high scores, I expect Cook to weigh in with a ton at the very least

Heavy night last night, beer, curry and strippers. Wake up this morning, watch the scores and cry. I'm an emotional wreck, it's like being a teenager all over again

I can't believe I'm going to say this but...... Come on Bell

This is a car crash, a lesson in how to give away your #1 status.

Disgraceful performance from the top order again !!!! (especially when Monty hits double figures), except Cook who along with Bell and Monty didn't donate his wicket.

Still think we let them get too much but we still have hope. It is a massive challenge and losing Cook doesn't help but the boys have got to dig deep.

Something they've not been accustomed to since becoming No1, they should pretend they're playing the Aussies !!

All we need is 25 runs from each batsman and the jobs done.

Shocking. I'd love KP to get dropped to be honest but it will never happen.

We threw it away, I know it would have been a record breaking attempt but they were capable of it, that's the annoying thing.

KP in trouble for his switch hitting. this has already been looked at and given the all clear. http://www.lords.org/latest-news/new...1077%2cNS.html

I still think that it's not in the spirit of the game. Let the bowling side set the field for a right hander and then switch to lefty during the run up. That can't be fair?

why is it when he does well, people call him a cheat and 'not in the spirit of the game', yet when he does crap people moan at him as well. Poor bloke can't win lol

If he can switch then so can bowlers, it has been ruled to comply with the laws then its within the spirit of the game.

But the fielding job isn't JUST about the bowler, once the field has been set they can't very easily change mid bowl. KP has said that if he sees a space then he'll switch and knock the ball into the space. I do think that that is unfair but it's not up to me.

What I DO think is unfair is Ian Bell continuing to take the place of a decent batsman

I dont think it's unfair to use your initiative, they've had long enough to out law the shot but feel they dont need to because I believe they see it as a risk with a higher liklehood of getting out attempting to play it.

The thing about KP is when he's on the jazz he is on a different planet, sadly it's not as consistant as we'd like.

Although that ton does make him the highest ton maker for England if you combine one dayers and tests, no mean feat.

So we can't quite agree on the switch hit but we have no disagreement at all on Bell being a **** and a waste of space then

Nicely played today today, kept the #1 status for another series

If we dont wash the windies at home then we dont deserve to be No1 quite frankly.

Bell was different gravy last year, looks like he's back to his previous form, so frustrating !!
