Default What happened at Newcastle?

Premiership football at Newcastle...

Hire a top name manager (track record? Who cares as long as they are a big name?)

Hire a top flight international just as they enter into their twilight years and stop scoring goals.

Grow a mega talent through the academy or youth team and just as they start to blossom sell them for top end money to Liverpool, Manchester United or Tottenham.

End up mid-table in a good year and get largely chastised by the crowds and media!!

And now

Hire a manager who is unanimously unpopular

Don't hire any huge names

Build a solid team

Keep under the radar - no media frenzy, no crowd hype

Remain undefeated and a solid fourth in the Premiership

Which would you choose?

Aye - If I were visiting the North East Newcastle would be the only team to see any of my money .

Although describing your teams performance as "Flat Bitter" isn't the best idea .

whether or not they can keep it up all season remains to be seen though

It is incredible - meanest team in the league, unbeaten in the league, one point behind Man U!

Tonight was probably their toughest potential match against the other meanest team at home.

Credit to Pardew, bought well, got them defending as a team.

Where have all the Ashley haters gone ?, seems to me he has sorted that club out financially, lowered the wage bill, lowered the ticket prices, done some cracking deals on long term season tickets, cant be all that bad now can he ?

In the early noughties Ferguson highlighted Pardew as the up and coming manager to watch.

Given Newcastle's current position he must now be favourite to replace Capello as the highest placed English manager

Quite probably true - Ashley, Llambias and Pardew did go gambling together!

Looks like is a good manager though - Newcastle are stronger than they have been for years.

On the forums the story is that it is Llambias who owes the money.

I would hate my club to change the stadium name so can empathise.

I know he's hated by the minority (is it really because he's not local ?) and does come across as an **** a lot of the time....

BUT
I have changed my mind in recent seasons on the man

He's actually saved your club from oblivion with his astute business sense, got a sensible wage structure in place that can be sustained, your catering and hospitality now makes profit rather than loss amongst others arms of the business.

Got rid of troublesome stars that were on big money, made the deal of the century getting £35 mil for a cart horse, pretty much balanced the books.

Done some brilliant deals on season tickets, so all in all he has done a fairly decent job whereas other clubs keep throwing good money after bad.

Any other Premier League clubs doing a 13 year deal on a season ticket at £340.00 a year ??

To be fair - most of the fans are at home at Sports direct - can't see what the problem is. (the one's not at home probably find sports direct on the expensive side)

All they need now is half time entertainment by Jeremy Kyle .

Could be worse - you could have a statue of a dead white paedo druggie outside the shop / stadium (delete as appropriate)

Very good performance last night, by far the better team and seemed to want it a lot more than United.

After a lacklustre Christmas season and a couple of poor results, especially against Brighton, we fluke a 2-0 against Blackburn.

Clear fifth!!!

At this rate we will be in Europe!!!! Heady days!

I'll buy that for a dollar, especially after the recent collapses and all round twatful performances of late!
