What happened at Newcastle?

Premiership football at Newcastle...

Hire a top name manager (track record? Who cares as long as they are a big name?)

Hire a top flight international just as they enter into their twilight years and stop scoring goals.

Grow a mega talent through the academy or youth team and just as they start to blossom sell them for top end money to Liverpool, Manchester United or Tottenham.

End up mid-table in a good year and get largely chastised by the crowds and media!!

And now

Hire a manager who is unanimously unpopular

Don't hire any huge names

Build a solid team

Keep under the radar - no media frenzy, no crowd hype

Remain undefeated and a solid fourth in the Premiership

Which would you choose?

jasey 24 October 2011 08:41 AM

Sunderland.

Trout 24 October 2011 09:04 AM

:D

At we don't play in the Stadium of Shight

Fecking Mackems

jasey 24 October 2011 09:29 AM

Aye - If I were visiting the North East Newcastle would be the only team to see any of my money :).

Although describing your teams performance as "Flat Bitter" isn't the best idea ;):D.

SwissTony 31 October 2011 10:29 PM

3rd in the league if the result stays as it is

Not bad :D

addi monster 31 October 2011 10:34 PM

looking good tonight, cant believe we bought bloody carrol the usless long haired ****e bag, lol

Matt_F 01 November 2011 12:36 AM

im very surprised with how well they are doing considering the players they have.

whether or not they can keep it up all season remains to be seen though

Andy RB5 01 November 2011 12:40 AM

Get in the toon! 'if sammy scores we're on the pitch, if sammy scores we're on the pitch!'

Trout 01 November 2011 01:05 AM

It is incredible - meanest team in the league, unbeaten in the league, one point behind Man U!

Tonight was probably their toughest potential match against the other meanest team at home.

richiewong 01 November 2011 02:30 AM

We're still shit and I'm still a season ticket holder :D

kingofturds 01 November 2011 10:08 AM

I don't like change, I am used to us faffing around in the bottom half of the table:( bring back Kenny Dalglish :D

Funkii Munkii 01 November 2011 11:41 AM

Credit to Pardew, bought well, got them defending as a team.

Where have all the Ashley haters gone ?, seems to me he has sorted that club out financially, lowered the wage bill, lowered the ticket prices, done some cracking deals on long term season tickets, cant be all that bad now can he ?

Trout 01 November 2011 11:12 PM

In the early noughties Ferguson highlighted Pardew as the up and coming manager to watch.

Given Newcastle's current position he must now be favourite to replace Capello as the highest placed English manager ;)

kingofturds 06 November 2011 01:30 AM

2nd in the league (albeit only for a few hours) and still I hear some so called die hard newcastle fans calling for Pardwew to be sacked for a lucky win over a 14th placed team:cuckoo:

And 3 pts :thumb:

Could be worse, it could be king Kenny :freak3:

Trout 07 November 2011 12:26 PM

Quite probably true - Ashley, Llambias and Pardew did go gambling together!

Looks like is a good manager though - Newcastle are stronger than they have been for years.

Funkii Munkii 07 November 2011 03:11 PM

Must have been in the millions !

Hopefully he's now finished paying it off, woud also explain CH's abrupt departure.

richiewong 07 November 2011 07:27 PM

Yeah that rumour of Pardew owing the cockney wanker has been circulating for a while

Trout 07 November 2011 08:50 PM

On the forums the story is that it is Llambias who owes the money.

Richie, are you tied in with the 3yr Seat deal? My deal ends next season.

Fat cockney *******, get out of our club.:hjtwofing:razz::mad:

Funkii Munkii 10 November 2011 11:39 AM

I would hate my club to change the stadium name so can empathise.

I know he's hated by the minority (is it really because he's not local  ?) and does come across as an arse a lot of the time....

BUT
I have changed my mind in recent seasons on the man

He's actually saved your club from oblivion with his astute business sense, got a sensible wage structure in place that can be sustained, your catering and hospitality now makes profit rather than loss amongst others arms of the business.

Got rid of troublesome stars that were on big money, made the deal of the century getting £35 mil for a cart horse, pretty much balanced the books.

Done some brilliant deals on season tickets, so all in all he has done a fairly decent job whereas other clubs keep throwing good money after bad.

Any other Premier League clubs doing a 13 year deal on a season ticket at £340.00 a year ??

jasey 10 November 2011 11:49 AM

To be fair - most of the fans are at home at Sports direct - can't see what the problem is. :thumb: (the one's not at home probably find sports direct on the expensive side)

All they need now is half time entertainment by Jeremy Kyle :D.

Could be worse - you could have a statue of a dead white paedo druggie outside the shop / stadium (delete as appropriate)

Trout 11 November 2011 02:58 PM

In line with the new stadium name - Sports Direct Arena - Pardew is rolling out a new look team...

1 Bywun Getwunfree
2 Lasto Fer
3 Spesh Al Redukshun
4 Nine Teen Nine Te Nine
5 Twoday Only
...

Funkii Munkii 11 November 2011 03:27 PM

Is that plagiarism or did you make them up yourself.

Please tell me its the former ;)

Trout 04 January 2012 11:34 PM

So they dropped the ball for a few games but what a come back tonight!!!!!

So a draw and a win this season - not a bad result :)

Funkii Munkii 05 January 2012 11:42 AM

Very good performance last night, by far the better team and seemed to want it a lot more than United.

Trout 02 February 2012 12:31 PM

After a lacklustre Christmas season and a couple of poor results, especially against Brighton, we fluke a 2-0 against Blackburn.

Clear fifth!!!

At this rate we will be in Europe!!!! Heady days!

richiewong 03 February 2012 12:55 AM

I'll buy that for a dollar, especially after the recent collapses and all round twatful performances of late!
