Been a while since I've been this happy as an Aston Villa fan.
Fell quite nervous about tomorrow, but feel AV can match Manure.

Fully expected to win that game.....ah well.
Still a mystery why MON plays a centre back at right back? He's a good centre back, but a poor right back. Yet, on the bench we have a good right back? Odd?
Fingers crossed Villa return to Wembley in May.

I think those days are long gone eh.
From afar it seems to me you have the one yank owner who knows what's he's doing, you must be very happy with the situation, great owner, great manager, some good players, and clearly improving season by season and now challenging for Silverware.
Any debt issues at Villa ?
p.s. sorry about Sunday, beaten by the better team, although that would have been in doubt had the ref sent Vidic off as I believe he should have, but hey you'd know better than anyone else what Mr Dowd was thinking about.
Just before the 2nd leg of the semi I was outside work having a smoke one afternoon and from the warehouses behind us I heard a shrill Brummie accent singing "Wembley Wembley we're the famous Aston Villa and we're going to Wembley" put a grin on my face, certainly not what you'd expect to hear in Sydney !!

You'd be surprised about how many of us Villans are around, it surprises me anyway, but I haven't heard a Brummy accent, that would indeed make me smile too.
As for our owner, he does know what he is doing and listens to the fans too, I wouldn't change him that's for sure. As for the manager, it's getting predictable our style of play, other teams are realising it. We need a star striker and Heskey just doesn't cut it, I've never rated him since his inclusion in our side, I wish he'd go.
Sunday, yes, beaten by the better side and Vidic, I haven't seen the actual incident, but it sounds very much like it was denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity and until I see the direction that the incident was in, how far out from goal etc, etc, I can't really say yay or nay to a send off. From what my dad says, it sounds like it should have been. Mr Dowd isn't a popular peep at the Villa and if he could get any less popular, in that game he certainly did.
Debt wise, yes there is, but nothing that is putting the club in strife, if you could call a debt healthy then that's what I would call what we have.
Hopefully we get another crack at Wembley in May, this time for a proper cup.

LOL who's just turned up for work
I was in Coles last week and I heard what I thought was Ozzy Osbourne behind me and turned round to see this man mountain, massive hair massive beard with the most distinct brummie accent
So you didn't get up in the early hours to watch it
I wont go there on the Vidic thing, oh go on then, he wasn't going directly at goal just to the left and the ball had run away from him somewhat, but that was probably because Vidic had been pulling his shirt for the previous 30 seconds, should have gone for that at the very minimum.

I've been at work a while, I just had things to do.
Talking of Ozzy, that's what I have on my sat nav complete with offensive words.
No, I didn't get up to watch it. I have work then refereeing, then work then refereeing.....I am valuing my sleep. LOL
I'll have to try and get to see it, if you can find a clip in the mean time......because it sounds like he should have gone. I will be interested to see where the referee was. It is amazing how much difference an angle makes on an incident, although hopefully with these guys, the AR would be seeing something and be on the intercom to let the ref know WTF he is missing!!!!

Although Doug Ellis was a bit of a skinflint he left us in good shape financially.
I think to suggest we need a new manager is really short sighted.
Until Sunday we could still get 4th in the League, were already in 1 final, and are only 1 game away from an FA cup semi final. Surely if Villa fans were offered that at the start of the season they'd have taken it?
I agree about Heskey though, but managers love him, including England ones so he must do something right....I just don't see it. No doubt there is a nucleus of a great side there, and I hope we can continue to improve even if we miss out on 4th place this year.
...I just want to see Villa win the FA Cup! I think I'd take that over 4th place.

It was said tongue in cheek, MON is an excellent manager, however he is becoming too predictable with our format and game plan.
Teams are reading this and we are losing or missing out on crucial points against teams which we really should be stealing all 3.
Something needs to shift, albeit with our strike force I don't actually see us as a top 4 club, we need to get that star striker in, not an old striker who has rare moments and is on his way out.
I too would rather see us lift the FA Cup than run fourth in the league.

I have a feeling MON will be the next manager at Old Trafford
I hope Villa get 4th spot this year, I like the set up there and you seem like a true hard working club. You've been so close to the top four for a long time now and I think it's deserved if you get it this season

Heskey really is an enigma. I've had my doubts since his early days at Leicester. I've just checked his stats on wikipedia:
Firstly his full name is Emile William IVANHOE Heskey.
Secondly his games per goal ratio has dropped significantly in recent years and was never outstanding in the first place.:
Leicester: 3.85 games per goal
Liverpool: 3.85 games per goal
Birmingham: 4.86 games per goal
Wigan: 5.47 games per goal
Aston Villa: 7.00 games per goal
Now that may not interest non-AVFC fans too much, but as we approach the World Cup, it has to be concern for ALL England fans. His games per goal ratio at full International level for his entire career is even worse at 8.14, with his last goal being in a 4-0 drubbing in Kazakhstan last June.
In other words, even if he played every game in South Africa from start to final, he might just bag one goal. Is that good enough for an England striker? He has never had any confidence in front of goal: just like yesterday at Reading when clean through on the keeper; I just knew he wouldn't score!

I agree. Cuellar pretty much single-handedly led a dreadful Rangers side to the 2007 - 2008 UEFA Cup Final with his impressive displays at centre back. He was voted SPL Player of the Year too. So why pay 7.8 million for him and then always play him at right back?
