AFC Wimbledon
I've just noticed that AFC Wimbledon are currently only 6 places away from the Football League. Anyone of my generation would always remember them as the top-flight team everyone else hated playing. Who could ever forget the Crazy Gang?; the poxy stadium on Plough Lane; the long throw-ins; the dreadful "Route 1" tactics; the near-post corner flick-ons; the 1988 Cup Final win, irritating Dennis Wise; and finally Vinny Jones grabbing hold of Gazza's knackers!
I for one wish them well this season and would love to see them back in the Football League next year. The way the original club was flogged off like a US franchise to the footballing wasteland of Milton Keynes was a disgrace. The fans that founded (and still own) AFC Wimbledon from the ashes only 7 years ago should be applauded. In that short time they have been promoted 4 times and never finished outside of their respective play-offs.
I guess the Holy Grail for any AFC Wimbledon fan would be to welcome the Milton Keynes Dons to their proposed new place at Plough Lane greyhound stadium in Football League 1 or 2 within the next couple of years!

Pontificating
I noticed that when the new season started, fair play to them it didn't take them long to get out of the pub car park to the 5th division, very impressive.
