Transfers: did they always take this long?
Is it just me, or is this protracted Premier League transfer saga a newish phenomenon? I'm sure, deals used to be done and dusted in a few days in the past. Now they drag on for months, often until deadline day. I don't mean just rumours, but where actual bids have been made or comments that would invite a bid. It's almost as if they need to feed the back pages during the off-season. Current names include: Berbatov, Ronaldo, Barry, Keane, Lampard, Drogba, Adebayor etc, etc. none of whom have so far moved anywhere! What a waste of everybody's time. Roll on deadline day please!

What people need to realise is that in the days of 24 hours media outlets they need stuff to fill their pages hence you find massive fabrications of stories and rumours. After the goings on this Summer I now refuse to believe any article I read unless I've seen the interview with the person and hear them say what is quoted. Sky Sports News used to be great and a reliable source for info. Now it's nothing more than the equivelent of the Sun Sports pages.

I never believe the rubbish printed in the papers, in fact I don't even read them now. Also take all websites with a pinch of salt.
I now only believe info from people genuinely in the know and linked with the club or players.
Summer transfers have always taken a fair amount of time if they're players involved in summer tournaments, factor in holidays, pre-season tours etc and it all adds up. Todays overvaluing will always cause additional stalls, especially when its a player who isn't actually up for sale and is still wanted.
