Respects to all of those that perished on this day 50 years ago.
I grew up hearing these stories from my Dad and it was moving as a kid, read all I could get my hands on from the Library and as a kid you just couldn't comprehend how a team could be wiped out like that, yet they still make the FA Cup final and the European Cup Semi Finals, some of those players weren't even getting in the reserves and here they were in the Utd 1st team, it is still very poignant today. I would loved to have seen what Duncan Edwards could have been, everyone from my Fathers generation said he was different grade and would have become the best player in the world.
Really nice to see Liverpool and City shirts amongst all the Utd shirts outside Old Trafford,
I hope the idiots don't spoil it on Sunday.
RIP Brothers

I was going to post a thread but didn't want to see it descend into some slanging match. It may not have done but didn't want to take the risk.
Not sure we could imagine what it must have been like. To compare it to today and lose the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney etc.
Such a loss to the football club but most importantly to the families and friends of all who lost their lives.
RIP

Most of us are big enough to show some respect for such a terrible loss.
You will get the idiots who can't help themselves, but no doubt they'll be in the minority.
RIP.

Yeah i know that Dunk... on other forums I've used each thread has had the tone lowered that's all. The true footy fans on here will be well aware of the day and I'm sure had a thought or two about what they day meant

Terrible loss, not just to United fans but to Football fans as a whole as there was some great talent lost in that crash. I dont feel the loss too much as its before my time and related to a club I despise but do feel when opposing fans chant certain songs to United fans its well out of line, there are boundaries that shouldnt be crossed.
Although I feel there are just as many tradgedies to have happened within football that seem to be forgotten such as the Bradford Fire etc.

I think the thing is although we shouldn't value certain peoples lives over others we as football fans feel an affinity to the players we watch and admire. When they lose their lives in a tragic way it hits home all the harder. I'm like you too young to know much about it but I'm aware of it's place in Uniteds history and the effect it had on the country as a whole. Had B Charlton not survived would we have won the World Cup? Who knows

Watched the review on the beeb last night at half time. Such a tragic story and must haunt those who survived. Also that Edwards survived for 15 days afterwards before passing away
On a more chirpy note - did you see the clip about the FA cup final against bolton? The goal that one it for them - shot that keeper caught and bolton forward just ran straight into him and knocked keeper and ball over the line. Oh how the times have changed

I choose the pic at random from a google search on Wednesday as I thought it was most fitting, I have since seen it in every paper.....

I'm all for a bit of banter, and even a bit of abuse if the occasion warrants it
But some things just aren't done

well respected minutes silence, how much did the papers want it all to go wrong though, bet they had the headlines written already. the minutes clapping that goes on nowadays should never happen again, after all would you do a minutes clapping at someones funeral?
