Default Kuyt Signs For Liverpool

Looks like the fee is agreed with Feyenoord for Dirk Kuyt, just the medical and wages to sort out

Shepard was in Dublin watching Kuyt . . .
Parry was in Holland concluding the deal

LFC now offically have the ugliest strike force in the Premiership
Some nice signings this summer, bring on the Premiership.

Wednesday:
"I would consider a move to Liverpool, but my first choice is Newcastle,"
"I know quite a bit about Newcastle, they're one of the best supported teams in the league.”
Dirk Kuyt

Thursday:
"For me, Liverpool is sure to be the dream club I was looking for.

"There was more interest from abroad, but for me there was nothing of the calibre of Liverpool, a brilliant club with an enormous reputation, fantastic support and a fabulous history."
Dirk Kuyt

Possibly a young man who says what he believes people want him to say?

We've watched him 6 times over the past few months and been linked with him for almost 2 years now. If NUFC haven't seen enough to impress them in that time, then it was better to leave it. Good luck to Liverpool.

71 goals in 101 games for Feyenoord should be enough to convince any team IMO. Shame we couldn't offload Kromkamp as part of the deal

"We did everything we could to keep Dirk at Feyenoord," said chairman Jorien van den Herik

"We went a long way to do that and Dirk was open to that, but we knew that the chance was he would leave if his dream club came in. Liverpool was, and is his dream club.

"Many clubs have tried to contract Dirk over the recent period, but he's said 'no' to clubs every time because they were not appealing enough, despite there being some very renowned clubs among them.

"That characterises Dirk's attitude: either Feyenoord or my dream club."

I think he will score goals in the Prem.

It pains me to say it but Liverpool have assembled an impressive squad and have a real chance of pushing Chelsea all the way this year.

I'd be concerned about a player who says he'd prefer one Club over another on a Wednesday, and less than 24hrs later he's singing the praises of the Club he didn't want to go to and signing for them. Still that's Footballers for you I guess... Not the brightest.

They're from the same Media sources that attribute today's comments about Liverpool to him. Players have done it before and will do it again: say one thing and do another. Liverpool made the bid, we didn't; end of story. Only time will tell if we were wrong or not. What we are lacking at the moment is players with pace and that's something Kuyt doesn't have.

Luckily for Liverpool this season we have pace in abundance.

The deft, killer touch of Kuyt and the added competition he'll bring to the party will do very nicely.

As I said the quotes are fake, can't find the forum it was first posted on but even other Newcastle fans were laughing at the poster because he's a bulls****er. Benitez has been after this guy since last year, don't you think he would have spoken to him before now to find out if he wanted to join them? Do you really think Kuyt would have said that on Wednesday and then Benitez would sign him on Thursday? No manager at a (real) big club would sign a player who wanted to play for another club

Yes I do and worse has happened with other players. Some even break contracts they have only just signed. Can I point you in the direction of Dietmar Hamann only a month or so back?

Besides, here's the quote. Not from a fan forum, but a reporter working for ANP, the Dutch National news agency:

Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt thinks he will end up at Liverpool instead of his prefered destination Newcastle United. Kuyt would love to replace Geordie legend Alan Shearer at Newcastle but it seems unlikely that the Magpies will match Feyenoord's asking price.

Kuyt told me last week that he desperately wants to sign for Newcastle United.

"I've always wanted to be a hero, I have that status now at Feyenoord and I want to achieve that at my next club too. I know quite a bit about Newcastle, they're one of the best supported teams in the Premier League and they're a typical English club. It would be a dream to play for them."

The striker is unsure whether he will be a Toon hero next season, though.

"I know Feyenoord are asking a massive fee and I don't know if Newcastle are willing to match that."

Liverpool are more likely to take the gamble and pay Feyenoord's asking price of around £10 million.

"I would consider a move to Liverpool, they're likely to progress to the Champions League group stages, I would love to play in that competition but my first choice is Newcastle."

That was Sunday and it was in a lot of the Media, including the BBC, Sky Sports and a whole host of newspapers.

You seem to have a rather naive view on the scruples of Professional Footballers; few have any at all. Still, Kuyt signed for the one team that made an offer for him. He didn't do a Hamman!

Oh and here's another quote from Kuyt, setting himself up to replace Alan Shearer. Did he ever play for Liverpool?

Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt claims he can fill the void left by Alan Shearer's retirement at Newcastle.

The Magpies are weak in the striking department, with Shearer retired and Michael Owen injured, and manager Glenn Roeder is attempting to remedy the situation ahead of the new season.

He has been linked with a number of faces, including Dean Ashton, Obafemi Martins and Kuyt.

Liverpool are also on the trail of Kuyt, but he feels he can fill Shearer's boots on Tyneside.

"I would describe myself as a target man," Kuyt is quoted as saying in the News of the World. "And I would compare myself to Shearer.

"I can make goals and get assists as well as score goals.

"I work hard for the team but people in The Premiership will have to see me so I can prove myself."

Kuyt failed to set the pulse racing during the World Cup finals, but claims he should not be judged on his efforts in Germany.

"People did not see the best of me at the World Cup this summer but there is a fine line between scoring and missing a chance."
Sky Sports, Sunday 13 August 2006

I'm looking forward to seeing his shirt kissing antics when he scores for Liverpool...

The lack of knowledge in this Forum astounds me. Who? The Premier League's leading scorer: Alan Shearer...

I don't know, was it? He couldn't wait to get away from the place 12 months earlier.
