First red of the season!

About time too.
I can't take full credit for it though......my assistant referee (full official and one whom I trust implicitly) called me across and informed me that he had clearly heard the goalkeeper for one of the sides tell the spectators to "Go get fcuked" very loudly and with no provocation.
I asked him again if he had heard it very clearly, he confirmed and I decided to take action in the form of calling the goalkeeper over and informing him that he was receiving a red card/send off for foul and abusive language.
He was astounded and didn't really make too much of a meal of things. He said it was a joke and asked me again what he was being sent from the field of play for. I repeated myself and my assistant backed me up.
A couple of players tried to have a go, but I waved them away and one of the team mates hauled them away telling them to get on with it. (He was a much needed person at times! He calmed his players down a lot).
I did four games in the semis of the Grand Final series for the district. Two centres and two lines.....fantastic day.

Scooby Regular
Spooky that cos Garath Barry has just been sent off for foul and abusive language to the linesman in the match against Portsmouth!
I'm glad as well, I personally think that FIFA should really clamp down on this swearing and mouthing at officials there is just no need for it, and at the end of the day where does it get you
Footballers should take a leaf out of Rugby Union players and keep their mouth shut when confronting officials.

Thought you meant Villa's dopey Gareth Barry
Nice to see they are starting the season in the same manner as they ended the last one. Nice defending boys !!!
Birmingham scoring the first goal of the season (and beating Spurs in the process) was good news too.
