Talking

Sorry I was bored at work and jacked a few threads

I lost interest in gridiron a long time ago, I'm more into my Rugby Union now, a very professional game with no padding
When I did have an interest, my adopted team was the Houston Oilers, do they still exist or have they been sold and moved thousands of miles away to another city under a different name, thats what I call product rebranding!!It would never happen in this country, although Wimbledon tried it and failed miserably.

The one thing I do like about it still is the fact you couldnt have a Real Madrid or Man U, as no one is allowed to snap up all the best players, proper football could benefit from that, or have they changed that rule as well, like i said its been a few years

Dave

Cool

From Rick Kamla at Fanball.com:
I recently read that a friend of a friend of a cousin of a brother of a reporter at a Buccaneers’ luncheon heard Jon Gruden say: “I would be very surprised if Joe Jurevicius is not an elite receiver in the NFL this year.” I hate the offseason.
LMFAO!

Too true, Rick. Too true.

Coming from a Man Yoo fan I don't think that's a qualified opinion!!

No worries mate! I took no offence - in fact I'd have been most suprised if I hadn't received a reply like that!

The Oilers went to Tennessee ( sp?) and became the Titans, and have been doing pretty well with Steve McNair and Eddie George performing well. A couple of years ago they were tackled 1 yard short of the end zone on what would have been a Superbowl winning score.

I know what you mean - the wholesale uprooting of teams is a bit strange! It couldn't work here, but there are a few things that could. The concept of the draft is a good one like you say, and I also think the idea that the money made from merchandising being spread around all the teams is a good one. Not so sure about the salary cap and free agency becauseI've only really watched the game since they've been around.

Get back into it, it's great!!

So now I have to follow the Tennessee Titans now, so where are they based Memphis or Nashville, I can see whats going to happen I'm going get sucked in this season

Jasey, its true what they say about gooners you're all feckin clueless

OK so some wear a nice cycling helmet or some bandaging and a box possibly so their ears and nuts dont get ripped off but they certainly don't wear padding on their shoulders or chest or a crash helmet with prison bars on the front!!

But the 'pads' in rugby are just that, a few millimetres of foam padding.

In grid iron its hard armour.

I stand corrected then, Ive never seen a Union man with padding but I'll take your word for it, now League, that is a different story plenty of 80's shoulder pad action going on there

What people don't seem to realise is that when you get hit by the "armour" on somewhere that isn't padded (and there's loads that isn't!).....it feckin hurts!

I used to subscribe to the "rugby for wimps" theory until I went to a training session and got nailed! Ouch!
