Gold Star on the new England shirt

Did anyone else notice the small gold star on the left sleeve of the new England shirt, have we now adopted the stars on the shirts for the amount of World Cups we've one like France Germany Brazil and Italy??
Rooney was quality tonight, England were much better without Owen and Heskey.

thats what all the hype was about the launch of the new strip.
This was a fans fight with the FA since France won in 1998. They automatically adopted the golden star and a lot of English fans asked why the England strip never had their world cup triumph remembered in this way.
And yes I have to agree, Rooney looked bloody good.
