I said to the missus after Des mentioned that Celtic and 'pool had gone behind in the first 10 minutes to Basle - "We'll go behind quicker than that then"... How right I was...31 bl00dy seconds!
What a second from Ruud though...superb.
I had the chance to go tonight, but work got in the way a bit, so I had to decline. I wish I'd just thought "*** it!"

Redkop, If you don't beat us on Sunday with our current team, then I would be very worried if I were you...
I, on the other hand, would be ecstatic! I'll take a point with the team we'll have out there.

No, a Leeds United player has never won the European Player of the Year award.
However, Denis Law (1964), Bobby Charlton (1966) and George Best (1968) all managed to scrape in to win the award whilst playing for Manchester United.

Yes, there wasn't a massive amount of talent in those days was there. Would be interesting to compare the 50 of then against the 50 of now. Has any of those Scummers ever won it at 21 ?

And it might help if you actually read my posts, am a true red supporter - you know the ones that have won 4 Euro cups..... (and don't have a pop about me harping on about that, your post refers back to the 60's....)

Ash1,
You asked the question, mate! I'm only here to enlighten.
Oh, and by the way, George Best won European Player of the Year at the age of,.....wait for it,.....21!
Always cut yer losses on a really bad day. (No pun intended)
Best of luck in the UEFA cup,
Azide

Azide - Best? He's a fine example for society isn't he ? Still doesn't get round my point though, the top50 players of today against the same players of that era.
P1Fan - All I said was that its no good in beating us if you don't get anything out of the **** on Sat.
Anyway, you guys should enjoy it, congratulations on your first 1 win in what 2 years ? But you're still behind us......

There is no point in comparing 50 players from know against 50 players from Best's era - its been done a million times and just doesnt work. You have to respect both at their respective times. After all u can only be the best at the time u were playing.

Get in there! Fukin' superb victory you Scouse b@stards!
Can't wait for the Arsenal game. I'm taking the same mate I took for his first visit to OT for the 6-1 hammering - Let's hope he brings something of the same, although I'm not very optimistic of beating them, I have to say, but then again I wasn't yesterday either...
Ruud needs to play better than he did yesterday, that's for sure. He was bl00dy awful.

Newspaper quote from Daily Mail, believe your own hype.....
"Ferguson boast is way off target"
While Jerzy Dudek failed to perform the simplest of tasks as Liverpool's goalkeeper yesterday, he did at least succeed in fooling Manchester United into thinking they had suddenly become championship contenders. The Poland international's second-half blunder might have prompted his side's downfall in this crucial but ultimately disappointing Premiership contest but it also invited Sir Alex Ferguson to deliver yet another preposterous boast. "I think that was Manchester United back to it's best," said a delighted Ferguson after seeing Diego Forlan score the goals that left them just two points adrift of Gerard Houllier's stuttering side and a further four behind Arsenal.

We won't be far away if we can get Keano, Becks and Butt back soon and leave Veron on the bench or hope that he catches flu every week for the forseeable future...
Personally, I'm not too bothered about Rio, or Blanc for that matter, as Brown, O'Shea and Silvestre are more than up to the job in the centre of defence...

Ash1 - Who the **** said George Best was a fine example to society?! What's that got to do with the price of fish?
Spot on, P1F.
Anyway, without Keane, Butt and maybe Beckham, I think we might struggle....depends whether Seaman has a 'special' day like Dudek did on Sunday!

You guys have short memories, remember **** beating you last year on your home patch to win the Championship - how sweet was that ?
I do remember Barthez the clown palmed the ball into Wiltord's feet, then there was his circus performance in North London. Now everyone's rating him cos he saved a shot.
Wonder what odds on Real vs **** at the Toilet next year ?
Roll on Sat...
