The boys done good.

And now the backstabbing begins...
I for one have been pleasantly surprised at how WELL the England team have done at this world cup.
Firstly, qualifying in the first place. Last September we were LAST in our group needing to win or draw all our games just to scrape into the play offs. We then WIN our group
We are drawn into the toughest group in the WC, we manage to qualify from that after a few stunning displays
We beat Denmark, again playing very well.
We can all discect the Brazil game to death, but we were'nt playing were we?
The expectations before the WC was that if we could get out of the groups then it would be a success. We achieved more than that, a lot more.
Rememeber this team's average age is only 23. Most of the players have only just come out of the under 21 squad. Then look at teams like France, portugal, Germany and even Brazil. Those teams are either too old at at their peak. We have at least 7 years before we hit that peak.
So IMHO the boys done good.

But the press will annihilate them, it is the British press, what else do they do?
By the time the European tournament comes round the team will have matured and moulded together.
For a team that barely qualified for this World Cup, I am proud of the turnaround we have seen in the last couple of matches. IMHO we went out to the best side in the tournament.
Well done England, well done Sven. You are a credit to us

Well said Michelle. I don't think that anybody can deny that England played far better in this tournament than we all expected when they went over there. Of course it's disappointing that they didn't win - especially after that great goal by Owen in the first half. And it was really disappointing to see them play less well than they have played against only 10 men.
But I agree with Askew - the boys done good.

In retrospect they did well, but I think they will all be disappointed, they had a golden chance to beat a 10 man Brazil, and didn't press home the advantage.
Bring on Euro 04 with a full squad.
