What are you talking about.
The Graham Taylor wilderness years were our worst performances ever, however if you feel the need to moan rather than celebrate then so be it.
A draw was all we needed, alot of unfit players were in the humid conditions, and various people were protecting yellow cards. But you knew that already, you expert.
grow up and smile

To be fair though - to settle for a draw, when the likelyhood is that we will now meet Brasil in the 1/4s as opposed to the semis is not good.
I don't think that you would find some of the other top teams looking for a draw against a weakened team with 4/5 new players and a 19yr old rookie goalkeeper, when that result would make progression harder...
They still seem to lack that real self belief that they are better than the majority of their opponents !!!

Through to 2nd round, no Injuries and fit (also playing in the evening rather than the afternoon) Great result. We'll raise the game when it matters - but we mustn't underestimate the Danes - 1-0 will do Saturday - Brazil will not get through to the Qtrs

I personally was impressed with the performance, a draw ensured an evening game against Denmark, rather than an afternoon game against Senegal, I know which of those I would rather we played!

And as for Brazil - it doesnt make a lot of odds if you are going to have to meet them anyway when it happens. To get to the final you have to play, and beat, the best teams. We've done it once so far.

I agree with Paul - the reality is that aside from yellow cards/heat etc, we haven't scored one goal in this tournament from free play - only 1 set piece and 1 penalty - we couldn't even score against an inexperienced Nigerian goal keeper and left back that plays for Crewe! If we were playing for a draw why did we let them have so many chances? I was sat on the edge of my seat for the whole game - it wasn't a comfortable display of superiority - it was adequate and no more

The GROUP OF DEATH it was called when we went in - and WE came out of it - UNLIKE the Joint Favourites for the World Cup - And Nigeria where unlucky against the Argies (only conceded one goal to them (and that was lucky)).
SVEN's got these guys thinking right and forgetting all that Kevin Keegan / Glenn twaddle three lions on your shirt pish that's only got a place on the Terraces !
COME ON ENGLAND

Crap game but a job well done.
Rio has got to be the best defender left in the contest.
Am I right in saying that Brazil are the only other top team left in our side of the draw?
If so then it has panned out very well.
Well done lad's,now go on to the final.
Paul.

what are you lot on about
We were ****, we've played 45 mins against Sweden, 60 mins against Argentina, today they needn't have turned up
1 goal from a defender and a dodgy penalty
Who says we can raise our game
Its going to be an embarassing game , I'm off to watch paint dry

subster--Go and watch your paint dry.......we don't need moaners like you.
I was very pleased to get through.
We were gonna get Brazil in the end so why not sooner?
We seem to raise our game when we play good teams.
I was also pleased with our fans in this country........most were very positive with only a few moaners

Can't help wondering if the 3 guys in the Mastercard ad would rather have been at work than at today's game. Supposed to be a spectacle not a dirge. The effort gone to by the organisers and the 'lesser' teams deserved a better showing.
Don't get me wrong, delighted we are through, but haven't enjoyed the England games as much as many of the others.

I get what you're saying but I don't think entertainment value matters as this stage.....just be glad we're through unlike Euro 2000......we know we can raise our game......I just can't wait for the next S.Korea/USA/Japan match.......pure class!!!!!

Talking of entertaining matches, Brazil-Costa Rica
Costa Rica were entertaining, played free flowing footy created loads of chances, stuck 2 past Brazil. but they're out. If you were a Costa Rica fan would you have enjoyed it knowing a draw would have 'done the job'? or would you have posted on here moaning that all they had to do was grind out a result

too be honest i thought they were crap, but in the interviews after they all looked like it was the morning after they been out on the lash, they looked absolutley knackered. It was 94 degrees after all. I think now we are playin in the north wheres its coloer and at night we should be able to play more like we did against the argies.
