Default Bodywork Repair - Advice Needed

Hi All,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice/recommendation on bodywork repair around the South.

Essentially one of my neighbours has accidently driven into my MY05 STi. The damage appears to be all on the rear drivers side door.

Damage consists of:
  • Massive scuff and dent along the bottom of the door.
  • A 3inch crease in the panel towards the arch
  • The arch extension on the MY05 STi broken off.
  • Their may be more behind, or as a result of this that i cant see but it looks like the car has just gone down the side of mine. The front door has a scuff but appears to be free from dents.

I want the car back to perfect, because i have mothered this car and kept it absolutely mint. It has wanted for nothing and im probably a little obessive about it.

Hope you can help,

Thanks,

Ant

I would recommend ABW, he posts on here and is a subaru specialist.

I had a bit of prang in mine last year and sent to him..Best in the business..

He's based near Tiptree in Essex (don't let that put you off) Look in essex section or PM him user name: ABW or PM me and I'll give his number

That's an underestimate, he's had it 6-months working 25 hours a day to straighten it out for you

Any news yet, will you have it for the tunnel run - I'm away but I'll see the pictures as I packed my broadband into the suitcase, boy am I popular

Fairweather in Exeter are very good as are Kynastons. This sounds like an insurance job so check with them to see if they have rules on who you can use. When you get it back and before you drive it away really look hard where the repairs have been done to ensure it does not show. The rear door will probably be a new one or a re-skin from the sounds of it.

Thanks all, I think the rear door will be a new skin too as does everyone thats seen it.

I'll have a call round, they want to pay for it cash so i need to get some figures so they can decide if they can afford it. I have phoned the insurance who said to give them the chance to pay cash, and if they cant then let them know and they'll submit a claim against.

Apparently their is no time limits on when you can make a claim according to Priviledge.

I would not leave it too long mate, insurance companies DO have a time limit - as I found out.

If you take it to a bodyshop check to see if they are PAS125 accredited or working towards it. If they look at you blankly then walk away! Make sure they have a spray booth with extraction and that the booth is marked up with an evacuation or exit time. If it is then they will be a pukka place. I can recommend Cannon Autobodies in Heathfield near Newton Abbot too if you want a smaller high class repair bodyshop. Talk to Martin there - good bloke - has all the kit and turns out top notch work.
