Some Polishing Going on
After playing with Ricky's big one at the weekend whilst under his bonnet, it incentivised me to get mine out and give it a good polishing...
I must admit I was feeling a touch inadequate after getting my hands on Ricky's and now after a good polishing I am feeling much happier with my much bigger one, well almost. It is very tight in the hole now and it wouldn't quite reach the end....
To be more precise, the WRX intercooler y-hose was about an inch or so too short and wouldn't reach the turbo, but at least I now know what is needed and am ordering a hose joiner as I type
Whilst I was polishing I also finished off the pipe for my induction kit too, so once I sort the cold air feed that'll be fitted too

I didn't bother doing the underside as they can't be seen, but the top and sides have all been taken down. On close inpsection it is not perfect, but it is my first attempt at polishing something this big. I also need to clean between the fins as the bars are awkward, but look awful in comparison.

Yes I shall post up gory details tmrw. A bit dissapointed really, all that time & effort & no big rolling road figures to show for it really Will go into it tmrw when I post up huge thread with pics & graphs & pages upon pages of text, as usual
I am thinking I would have been better off leaving car as it was & saving hassle & money......maybe Il feel differently tommorow??
One good thing is it did make 500 Nm of torque (370 ft/lbs approx) & pulls like a train in every gear at any revs including 6th gear....so I suppose its not all doom & gloom

That's kinda what you get for trying to make an already quick car quicker! Although I do get why you went to the trouble Ricky, and it must be great to have the new found torque too.
Can't wait for the write up, will prepare a comfortable cushion and some food supplies ready for the lenghtly task of reading it all!

It was an early XS Power one, they've improved a lot since I bought this one, but after importing from the states when the exchange rate was good and selling off the extras that I didn't want like the cheap DV and hose it set me back about £50.
They now sell at about £250iirc

I've just a pair of rear trailing arms for £25 delivered that I'm going to paint up to match. The poly bushes for the trailing arms are 'kin expensive though. works out at about £85 for the set.
I need to get the garage that does my alignment to free off the nuts on the ones on the car though. I did try when I did the lateral arms but they are seized solid

That's why I'll ask the garage, they can get the acetylene on it while the car is up on the ramps. I only have a heat gun and trying that whilst lying on my back under the car I expect I'll end up with (more) heat gun shaped tattoos
The one I cut off was slightly rounded I must get some six sided sockets as well as the 12pt ones I have
