Default After recently driving a Classic....

After recently getting behind the wheel of Alan's Ver 4 Classic & having Mantazini & Fiestaboy harrass me on the Chalfont straights I am dreaming of buying the below mentiond item; puting aside a further £4k on mods & pocketing £11k from the sale of my Spec C!!!! ....credit crunch madness or shrewd brainwave!!

www.sennsports.co.uk : FACELIFT VER 4, BRAND WHEELS ONLY 61000 MILES

Go for it, if it's really what u want to do. It is real fun to drive and i am slowly getting used to it. Still prefer his WRX though.

By the way i think it's a version 3

Stick with what you know Rick. The spec C does the job really well, and reliably. I reckon you'd be wary of anything going wrong on an older car- it's not a nice feeling. Each to their own though mate, and actually I loved my classic to bits... if I were putting my own money into a scoob now I'd still be torn between new and old.

Reliability is the main issue Mikee as you say.

Sensible idea, personaly i would have a type r over the version 4 sti

Subaru : RARE UK Impreza STi V4 Type R

Only a couple of k more and the power delivery and handling is immense..! As you know i had one and it was certainly the quickest scooby ive ever been in.

.... give a search on the net about engine go bang stories ...and u'll find out that half of them where new age with less milage... imo , new age will better build cars but u get less feedback , so like we talked today Ricky , a diesel for everyday... and a pure raw power... = classic with 400 brakes for fun....

I must say i did like my classic but i would never buy one again! Yes they are light and what have you but a new age is just more me. It can do everything the classic can but is more relaxed, quite, and looks nice in side.

Not putting classic down, far from it but maybe im just getting old and can not deal with the rawness no more?

There are exceptions mate, like mine. Never abused, mapped by Bob Rawle on V Power well within the limits, serviced by API every 6 months.

IMO its luck.

If it was me I'd stick with the spec-c, I just like it. I would have a classic as a second car if I was to get one, and then turn it into a track car

IMO , stick with the spec C, you've got a newer car, looks the bollox on the move, and its already forged with a great gearbox.

yes the classic is lighter and might feel quicker but I have had a few friends (you know who you are) that have had problems with engine failure (pistons) and gearbox failure when pushing it to the OE limits (unless your considering on serious mods) but then it also comes down luck at times.

dont get me wrong i think classics are really good and probably a little more fun to drive and yes they will give you a good run for your money, but at the end of the day when you jump in your Spec c, you realise you got a newer car and probably much smoother to drive knowing you dont have to worry so much.

Stick with what you got dude!!

And you won't actually pocket 11k, because you'll spend it on the classic and you'll end up with a car that owes you just as much but in real terms is worth less
