Default SOON GOING FOR 400BHP

well impressed with the results today. only mods are straight threw exhaust blitz air filter, NEVER REMAPPED. For my scooby to be remapped the ecu has to be changed. Issue was that at 6000rpm fueling was lean (DANGER). The scooby defo needs a re-map OR a new fuel pump. which now comes on to my next to do list and that is 400bhp by the end of summer, wish me luck. car reached 318bhp at first run then 327bhp but was aborted cos of the fueling issue estimated to hit between 330-335 if carried on not bad for a 98 that has never been re-mapped,

GET READY JUICEP1

You've been very lucky mate not to of blown your engine if your cars never been mapped. At the minniumm it should be mapped for UK fuel.

You've got a couple of options you can have it mapped and get yourslef a new ECU eg ECUtek, AVCR or SIMtek but these will be pricey and will involve you visiting a Scooby garage and paying garage prices.

I would suggest you have chat with a guy called Fiestaboy, who posts on here, he may able to fettle with your stock ECU or may suggest for you to get a new one and he can programme it for you. Works out a lot more reasonable.

P.S His classic runs 500bhp

I'm feeling quite left behind as I aim for somewhere around the 300 mark

On the plus side I did manage to pick up my Prodrive 3-port for less than £50 when I was in the US last week. Just need to get my garage full of bits bolted together and see where to go from there

Be prepared for a forged rebuild at those power levels on standard V3/4 sti internals, mine lasted less that a day at that level Also bear in mind the transmission will struggle big time with anything more than 350lbs of torque.

Best to go for standalone managment system the cheapest being a Apexi power FC, which can be supplied fitted and mapped for around £800 from most reputable tuners, however the boost control capabilities are poor on the powerfc so a aditional apexi avcr will be required budget £300 extra

If the funds allow go for a simtek, they are the latest of ecu's just been released and are packed with gadgets, like dual maps, Antilag, launch control, etc, both myself and going 4 400bhp have used powerfc and simtek and prefer the simtek over the powerfc, the drive is so much smoother!

Good power figures though, you can rectify that lean spot with a cheap AFR controller...

thanks for the comments guys, Guv i am shocked my engine has not been well f***ed as you are well aware of certain nights out. I am currently in contact with fieastaboy who knows his stuff quiet well and am willing to use him for the 400 bhp mods. but first gonna try to upgrade the fuel pump to see if it cures the lean issues if it does then the scooby goes away for the start.

so guys been doing a little research and it looks like it could be the fuel pump at fault, so gonna get a upgraded one fitted and then back on the dyno will post up the result, going next friday. but i am still going for the 400.

guys if you understand then look at how scary this is, this could of been very very painful and am so lucky there has been no damage.Look at the corresponding power increase with the leaning out mixture.

Not a bad result all things considered, Your pistons are probably still cooling down as we speak.

I hope your monitoring Det on the rollers with that set up, and for what its worth it's allready to lean at 12 on the OE pistons not 13

lol ok well to say the least i think that alot of people including myself are somewhat amazed. now as most of you are aware there was a fuelling issue. but after months of work with a new upgraded fuel pump and apexi ecu with command control unit the figures are shocking. the only modification to the engine is a full Stainless exhaust and a upgraded air filter and blow of valve my baby hit. 1.4 bar boost. 345ibs torque and a astonishing 353bhp. OH MY GOD. Now to some that maybe nothing but from a standard import v4 sti that has got to be one of the highest. now as you were all aware l am trying to go for 400bhp but that could hurt my car and pocket. but next is 350 injectors, bigger turbo (omar) and fuel regulator. that should be enough. A SPECIAL THANKS TO EVOLVE (SULTAN) IN LUTON FOR HELP AND WORK AND TO THE RE-MAP GOD AMIR.

i had similar mods as you aswell as decat and a front mount and all i got was 329bhp and 320 torque which i was very happy with, i think ki8lla on a similar spec as mine with meth or n/f and a fuel pressurereg managed around 310.

i think amir and co broke a record there for your spec. 354/345 people barely get that with 16G, i dont think any one out there managed anything as close just goes to show the quality mapping.

get the graph up rikky and a massive well done mate
