I've seen quite a few Imprezas that have gone up in flames after rattling a big end out then chucking a conrod out the top of the block - The resulting (big) oil leak makes contact with the turbo, and the rest is history.

Gotta feel for this guy though - His car looked sweet.

Not worth a **** those mate, might put out a short on your stereo but that's about it.

The older AFFF are much better than the foam ones but I think they are banned now - Had 2 in my rally car, one plumbed and one hand held.

Thats what happened to mine, Piston/ringland failure which blew oil up through the breathers on to the red hot turbo and headers after running some antilag, luckily magz put it out with his fire extinguishire , big lesson learnt I'm def up for a groupbuy on a fire extinguishire

Put me down for 2 as I owe Magz one

The car should hopefully be back on road by the end of the month, with a 2.1 stroker race engine I need to change my username to Going 4 500

How can that happen, piston/ringland failure because you were running some antilags. Any chance you could find out how that happened, sounds suspicous to me mate,

Budgie not sure if this is of any intrest but the new legislation states that the size for a fire extinguisher in a car or van must be a min of 1kg and must have a guage on it, If that is the case then they cost around £50.00 give or take but on ebay there are some cracking deals on other extinguishers, this info is probably of no intrest but l thought you should all know.

slowboy racing have done me a very good deal on the build, the engine is being built future proof as I have intentions of bolting on a MD555 or MD321S in the near future once I have a suitable transmission and fuelling, the aim of the project is to build a car that can get in to the 10s on the drag strip as well be as be a comfortable daily driver

Every engine failure is some what suspicious is it not? I think you will find the above is Omar’s diagnostic not ours. From what I can hear over the "Phone" and the circumstances I suspect a rod has let go, a little confusion there

Did anyone buy any extinguishers in the end?

I know that the group buy from Peter Lloyd (refered to in this post) went a bit wonky. But someone in that thread did find this one below. Is it any good? If so Im gona get it ordered.

2 litre foam fire extinguisher - 2 ltr AFFF fire extinguishers
