I.O.W Radios

Dont get the cheaper ones as they only pick up the 8 main channels.
If you dont want to spend to much go for the goodmans, these are £79.99 for 2 from Argos or Index, they come with rechargeable batteries and charger.
The best are Motorola but to be honest when buying a tiny radio that only has a 2 - 5 mile range no need to buy the best?

ScoobyJawa,
Which model did you get? I've done some searches on the web and most places sell the GPMR114 model but the site mentioned by NeVeTaS2001 is the GPMR117 for £101 (inc VAT+delivery). Was considering ordering these and hope I get them before the trip!
Cheers

Bought the Goodmans ones from Argos last week, functional, easy to use, and work nicely (just ask the Newbury meet people ) You can buy one unit for 45 quid or two units for 80 quid.

Scott,
Not sure off the top of my head which it is, theres only one type of goodmans unit in the argos book and either comes in a one pack or two pack - its that one!!! It covers the full band of channels anyway!!

Okay - just got home and checked it out. Got the GPMR116. Plantie and I chipped in together for the two pack at 80 quid and had one each
As I said, for the price, a top bit of kit

Got my radios delivered yesterday and they are presently on charge. Obviously I'll need one for the weekend but if anyone wants to borrow the other let me know.
I had a flick through the manual but it looked a bit boring so I'll probably go for the "play with it til it works" learning processes aswell Plantie.

Yep they do, I think they take 4 AAA batteries and actually last longer on them than the rechargables that come with them. The initial charge time of the rechargeables is surposed to be 15 hours!
