If your Scoob is too precious to risk on a road rally, you might be interested in the Topographia Rally which takes place on Sunday 25th September.

It has been run by the CSMA Farnborough Group for many years and is a well-organised event which uses normal public roads.

Basically you are given a set of photos, and you have to work out from the map where each one was taken. You visit each location and answer a question at that location to score points. OK, it might sound like a glorified treasure hunt, but it requires a fair bit more brain power and decent map reading skills.

Some of the photos are fairly easy (e.g. road junction with signs) whilst the very high scoring photos are virtually impossible to solve (although local knowledge might help). You choose your own route and there is no pressure to exceed any speed limit (apart from the fact that you are trying to collect as many points as you can in the time available!).

This one is based on Ordnance Survey map 185 (Winchester & Basingstoke area) and runs from 10:30am - 6:30pm. It's a good opportunity to give your Scoob (and your brain) some decent exercise down some good driving roads, but if you are looking for an actual race then you might be better looking elsewhere!
