Surrey Meet - Sunday 12th June 2005
The usual routine for the regulars, but for any newbies (and fair weather Surrey meeters ):
We meet at Newlands Corner at 1:00-1:30ish for bit of tyre kicking. Drive into the car park and follow it down to the end, we are normally there.
This is followed by a leisurely drive to The Fairmile Arms (Cobham) at 2:00-2:30ish for a cheeky half and a bite to eat.
Fair amount of interest already at www.surreyscoobies.co.uk
The pub is child friendly with a family eating area and a play area at the back. If the weather is poor there are smoking and non-smoking sections inside, if the weather is good, there are tables outside on the lawn next the pub and at the back next to the play area. The food is good and reasonably priced.
All are welcome, even (dare I say it) if you don't have a Subaru! Come along and say hello!
Parking is on the front lawn, but the other Subarus parked there give that away!

I think there is going to be a pre-meet meet at Farnborough Gate, with a convoy to Newlands Corner.
I'm sure one of the SurreyScoobie guys will post it, if not all details will be on the SurreyScoobies site.

Looks like it will be a good turn out, despite there being a huge scooby meet that day!
And to those that know me and Caroline, it's our daughter Amelia's first meet!
See you guys at The Fairmile

Come on Pete, do it properly!!
What time do you want people at Farnborough Gate? (give a time you will be there, so they can wait for you, or play catch up knowing that you've left )
Mention your car, so they know what to look (although the roof spoiler will give it away )

Hi Everyone,
We just bought out first scooby and pick it up friday. so was looking on here for our first meet and found this thread, so this will be a perfect run out for the latest additon to the family.
A quick introduction, we are pippa & steve and out 2 boxer dogs monty and molly. I'm an IT Consultant for NTT Communications/Verio and of topical interest is that one of my current projects is being involved in the hosting of www.swrt.com and Prodrives IT for the period of this seasons championship. check out http://swrt.verio.co.uk.
The car we just bought comes about 2 minutes from newlands corner at Shamley green, its a WR Blue MY04 WRX Wagon and the current owner has added an STI interior with rear seats trimmed to match, with 17" STI gold alloys, STI grill and fog cover. We are picking it up friday... cant wait
We are meet virgins, hope to see you all there.
Best Regards
Pippa & Steve

Hi Pippa & Steve,
Most important thing to remember about a meet is don't be shy!!
There may be some groups of people chatting, but just feel to interupt and introduce yourself!
An open bonnet is always a good way to get chatting!
I'll be at the pub in a Forester with my wife and sprog in tow!
Some of us are technical, so the meet usually prompts questions about modifications and tuning. Just ask and you will get a variety of advice or recommendations.
See you there
Andy

Lol... We have defected from the frenchies ... We used to own and run the Renault Sports Club, so know a technical thing or two ... especially after my run of technical problems, a couple of engines, gearboxes, engine fire, and a quite a few driveshafts later we were all smiling again .. Thats to be expected when you try prototype mods out and push approx 230 (including Nitrous) out of a Williams Clio .
We started it back in January 2000 with a friend, as back then you would never see a french car at a show and Williams Clio's were pretty thin on the ground even back then. Now you cant move for saxo's .. so we got out back in about 2003 and driving around in an astra estate and my Pug GTI..
Decided it was time for a Scooby

Hi anger,
I know the feeling, It was like renaults were in their own seperate world.
In our run of frenchies we had owned several 5's a 21 Turbo a Clio 16V & a Williams. For two years running my Williams & Wifes 5 GTT were only Renaults at Doncaster and Traxx, and there were no french clubs there, apart from the ubiqutous Ecosse peugeots, so we blagged a place for my Clio on the GTTOC Stand next to the wifes 5. Out of the interest from the shows we decided we should address the sitauation by setting up our own club. The club grew out of all sense of reason and soon we had spawned Cliosport, Clio-Couture and 21 turbo Club.
It was so frustrating and had so many clio/19/21 turbo owners come and say hello and wanted their cars to be on a stand as they had to leave them in the show carpark. Our clio was in RedLine, Revs & fatscar and was featured on Bravo channel as well. Wifes 5 was in the Jeremy Clarkson Video... Full Throttle.
But all good things come to an end... we wrote off the 5 and i blew my engine ..Again!
Yeah.... I know.... I waffle too much

Having owned a Citreon ZX Furio and a Peugeot 306 XSi, I said I would never buy French again!
Then again, I'm looking at a Pug 205 GTI to use as a work hack and track car!
