Cambridge Meet
#7
I can suggest a particularly fine pub if the Pboro/Cambs lot want to meet up. Its the Ferry Boat Inn in Holywell, near St Ives. The Porsche Club GB and TVR mob meet there every month (actually the TVR meet turns into a scooby meet as thats seems to be their 2nd car of choice in the winter) and I've taken the Evo mag mob there on a few occasions. Its reputed to be the oldest pub in Britain (yep, another one, 950AD in this case), it does good food, awide selection of beer and is even haunted.
Better still, there are some interesting a and b-roads nearby for getting to/from which I can suggest if we get any takers (Esp. from Pboro).
And I do live there. Literally, in the pub.
Let me know if it needs to be lined up.
Cheers
Andy.

Both good for me but I feel a hi-jacking coming on! Best start a new thread for this one and leave this one for Grahames Cambs meet.
Might be better to post in Midlands and Southern.

Ay up Si, long time indeed. I havent even seen your new mota yet. Glad you got shot of the touring car though. Im just of to Egypt for a week but you should come over for a beer sometime. I've still got the WRX.
You still gainfully employed? Alot of my mates from your direction/sector are scratching around for work at the mo sadly.

Motor is doing fine at the mo. Needs 2 new tyres on the rear. Trying not to spend much on it at the mo.
Yer our company has laid off quite a few peeps. It needed to be done tbh. Weve taken over so many companies and there are so many replications of positions. Our dept is one of the unaffected ones so we are all still hanging on.
I here the dude with the Murcielago & Skyline who worked at WorldPay got the boot after RBOS took over? Pretty gutting especially as his son died a few weeks before (so I am informed).
Si.

We heard he sold up of his own accord of his son dying. Results the same I spose. As far as I know he is still here but I havent seen him in person for a while. Still see the Lambo ripping down the bypass occasionally. Tasty motor. His Skylines been sat up in the paddock for a while so he must prefer the Italian metal.

I'm with kwakman the Ferry boat is indeed a fine public house with plenty of parking and a good beer garden.
Also if your after a nice and easy to find location for the joint P'bro/Cambs meet, the Brewers Fayre at Brampton Hut services (A1/A14 junction) is good, it also has a flood lit car park, usful till the lighter nights come round.
Grahame, mods ahoy, 3" straight through exhaust & Koni suspension waiting to go on
Roy..

I can probably come but I'll wait for someone to make a firm decision about a date and a venue first before making a committment....
Although, that said, can't make the 18th so 25th would be better - as for venue, I don't mind

Now I see the error of my ways, we're talking March not April doh!!!!
But anyway, has a decison been made abotu 18 or 25 yet, especially as the 18th is tomorrow.....

Sorry guys I've been away for a long weekend - should have visited an internet cafe or summit to get on-line (in the wilds of Shropshire). In view of my late response and the consensus, let's go for the 25th next week
(I've also put my name down for the Ferry Boat Inn meet next month. If you Cambridge boys fancy a convoy, we could meet at the Post House hotel on the eastbound side of the A14, but I can't remember if you join the westbound carriageway! I'll check it out)

You may be right...maybe it's changed hands. The hotel I'm thinking of is on the B1049 to Histon, just after you've come of the A14 eastbound. I've checked Ordnance Survey and yes we can re-join the A14 westbound at the B1049 roundabout. If peeps want to meet for the convoy, shall we say 19.15 at the "Holiday Inn" on the B1049? I used to go to the TVR meetings at the Ferry Boat so I know the way.

It is the Holiday Inn and its a 2 min walk from my house so that suits me as a convoy spot fine.
Is 7.15pm really a good time to meet if we need to be in St Ives at 7.30pm? Doesnt give us much time for latecomers etc. I think 6.30 to 6.45 is a better time.
Simon.
