Just picked up a mention on another site that the Brighton Speed trials are on tomorrow. Their were no details as to what its all about. Can anyone enlighten me & is it worth going??
If it is any good I thought it may have had a mention on Scoobynet or have I missed it or even is the date correct??

Yes you are right, it is on tomorrow. Racing usually starts at 9am. Basically it is cars and bikes from all sorts of backgrounds, rallycross, dragstrips, etc, etc. racing along Brighton seafront to see who can clock up the fastest times. It is a great day out and the commentator always raises a laugh. Well worth going, especially as tomorrow is due to be a scorcher. Will be there myself

This event has been going since time began!
I competed in it three times back in the 60's in a 1 litre Mini and won the class two years running. It's a great day out and takes place along the Madeira drive. Basically it's a drag strip and used to be 1 Kilometer long (Is it still - or 1/4 mile now?)
I can remember the road being a bit bumpy in places and my crash helmet banging against the roll bar at 100mph At that same event some American guy on a Chevy V8 powered bike lost it on the bumps halfway up and crashed through the railings and finished up on the beach, tragic fatal accident. They re-surfaced the road by the next year and reduced it to 1/4 mile You actually needed an international racing licence to compete back then. Sweet, sweet memories!

Popped down this morning. Lots of interesting cars and bikes.
Some bikes were doing 9 second 1/4 miles at > 150mph!!!
The F50 did a 12.7 1/4 mile IIRC and sounded lovely.
The F40 was almost silent.
Saw a red Impreza competing.
Tuned EVO VI was quick.
GTIR dump valve sounded nice (whoosh).
Popping Elise with flames out the back.
Many more.
Always a top event and doesn't cost to watch from the top.
