Well good day out was had apart from the weather and mud. It was nice to meet everyone who turned up and wot a turn out considering the SIDC trackdays.
It was a good day for some but not me I'm afraid, on the way back to Brighton we were travelling onto the A27 at the Shoreham interchange when accellerating up the slip road the back end lost it (probably on diesel as I found out from the police today) firing the car into the bridge railings and then spinning into the fast lane of the A27 facing the traffic. At that point all hell broke loose as we were faced with a VW transpoter hurtling towards us. Then bang head on, severe front end damage and cuts and bruises all round. LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. The scoob did a fantastic job of preventing severe injury to my wife and me.
Wot does anyone think I should do with the Insurance side when a police officer politely told me that there is always diesel on the road ad in future take the wide line. It seems I was not to blame really as we were only doing about 40 - 45 and the scoob acted as if it was on ice, no reaction from the steering when trying to get out of touble.
Will try and post picture in memebers gallery when I have sussed the scanner.
But be warned if you ever use the Shoreham interchange onto the A27 IT DANGEROUS.

Rup, sorry to hear about that. Not good, but the main thing is that you are both ok.
I think you might have a better case with the insurance comapany if you can get a letter or something from the police saying about the diessel on the road. Stands you in better ground.

Noooooooooooo!!!
Rup,
Glad your both OK.
If theres anything I can do let me know.
So you won't be needing that new head light now!!
Think Danny's right (for once) see if you can get a letter from the police or find out how many other accidents have happened in the same circumstances.
Hope you get it sorted,
Iain.

Well guys thanks again for the response, well appreciated.
Just called the garage and it's beyond economical repair, so thats that b*ggered. Lets see how the insurance goes but I will definately be looking for another one. Anybody know a reasonable Insurance company that will give me good rates considering our predicament.
Cheers again, we're both fine but aching and Karen has to go for more x-rays.

V sorry to hear your news the same happened to me in a 205Gti in Bristol years back. Diesel is often spilt on bends. However there aint no cure for it as fuel, tarmac and tyres all have similar properties and therefore anything that disolves diesel is also going to bugger up the road surface. So it is a bit of a bummer
