Anyone know roughly how much my hawk STI would break for?
Hi guys, I asked you lot on here a few months ago what my car would be worth if I was to sell it as it hardly gets used...I put it up for sale and then changed my mind.
I am now seriously thinking about breaking it for parts but would like to hear from people who have broken similar cars to let me know how much I could potentially make.
The car is a 2006 hawk STI PPP with no faults and in lovely condition.
Im not bothered how long it takes to sell all the parts as I'm not desperate for the money.
I will also remove all the parts carefully myself.
Thanks.

plus it's now done 93k miles so people are more likely to buy a lower mileage one that mine hence the reason for thinking about breaking.

You will have more messers when breaking, trust me!
And sometimes it's a task getting items stripped and shipped to buyers requests which can take away your evenings and time.
It's a pretty stock looking clean car so your not going to make a massive gain, it's only worth it when it's got a huge list of mods where you can't recoup the money back by selling as one or it's been in a crash.

yeah id have to agree
through experience id say not as much as selling the full car as a whole and probably not gonna make any extra that would cover your time and efforts.
i could understand if you were gonna build another one and wanted to know the exact ins and outs of whats involved with all aspects of getting it done
but to get top dollar your gonna have to have it already stripped , catalogued and ready to ship, the people willing to pay the top dollar for your parts are the people who need/want them in a hurry.

I already know the ins and outs of what's involved as I have been a subaru main dealer tech for the last 13 years just wondered if anyone had an idea of what I could make out of it.
thanks.

I've never had that, just had one guy. Don't let anyone drive it. As has been said the hassle and messing about trying to break it, some parts will sit around for years. Have you tried listing on here?
My reason is...I know there are alot of genuine people who buy cars out there but I can't be bothered dealing with the idiots coming round my house that want it for peanuts and just want to drive it.
plus it's now done 93k miles so people are more likely to buy a lower mileage one that mine hence the reason for thinking about breaking.

id also try selling it complete first , being a 55 plate they are sort after due to being in the lower tax band ,, 93k isn't high for that year Imo
I suppose its all down to how much your trying to get back out of it
sold my 55 pate hawkeye sti within a week of putting it up for sale

Another vote for don't break it, if you think it's a pain selling the car, you'll be in a world of hurt selling all the parts and it does tend to drag on a bit, loads of trips to the post office, meeting people, hanging around waiting for folks to turn up, endless texts, pm's and phone calls, everyone wanting parts for nothing shipped for free... it's a bloody nightmare... and I doubt you'll make a great deal more with loads of bits hanging around for ages even years.
Not really worth it on a standard car.
Stick it up for £7.5/8k it'll be gone in a week or 2.
