I've just thought...
Would they resist the bonnet flying up at speed (if the bonnet was accidentally left off the latch)? Or at least slow its progress down, thus mitigating the potential damage?
It's so, then quite apart from the convenience they offer, that aspect in itself is worth the asking price all day long.

...I'm talking crap.
Of course they will! The bonnet isn't free to flip all the way backwards, because the struts are effectively 'tethers'. Awesome - peace of mind and all that.
