bov vs recirculating valve

bov vs recirculating valve
Hi I got a hks bov and thinking i might change it for recirculating valve when I'm up scoobyclinic just wondering what are they benefit of putting a recirculating valve back on.

cheers mate everyone I have driven has always had a bov put on it. Don't mind the noise of them but if it makes the car run better I'll get a recirculating one any recommendations was looking at the Perrin one

I'm glad you mentioned this. My WRX has got the standard recirculating valve at the moment. Apart from the noise are there any disadvantages to fitting a BOV? I mean, would it have a detrimental effect on the engine?

People in the know say that a VTA dumpvalve aka a BOV, is a problem because the air entering has already been metered by the MAF, and so the ecu adds fuel appropriately. If the air has since been vented, you get over fuelling, pops and bangs etc, but it can lead to oil dilution, burnt valves, cat damage, bore wash and accelerated combustion chamber engine wear.
Others say "all wi' be well and all wi' be well and all manner o' things wi' be well."

I have an aps one which is fine but DO NOT buy a gfb one they are sh!te and leak I’ve had a few, the perrin ones are fine
If you want some sikk sounding noise and up for a map session then go in wing induction you’ll love the noise

Just to add
I’ve put a vta forge dv on my little brothers car which is a wrx ppp standard no mods apart from cat back exhaust and a hks panel filter
he loves the noise and it also drives well

most probably a Perrin re circ D/V
sc38 turbo
alcatek Ecu with l/c and anti lag
3 port boost solenoid
4 map sensor
Ngk 7 plugs
Walbro 255 fuel
3" stainless turbo back exhaust (H+S) Vortex afterburner back box

just messaged kev at scoobyclinic think I'm going for a Perrin re circ D/V as I'm looking at getting as close to 380 bhp as possible and he says they stock them so I'll have a look when I'm up there

When i bought my Impreza over 10 years ago now, it came with a bailey dump valve. Got to admit i love it. I've done about 10,000 miles in all that time and yes with the dv it causes the car to over fuel and pop and bang.
Last week i removed it and fitted a standard recirculating dump valve back on and i'm sad to say the car ran abit better. It felt very weird without the dump valve. And got to say prefer it, be nice to have a remotely operated one i could switch from dump to recirculate.
I've said a few times on here could the engine not be mapped to not expect the air to be recirculated back into the inlet, but been told no. Rich said he was going to try to and fit one then try and remap for the change.
Will have to see how Rich gets on.

Personally I’d go for a rcm fuel pump rather than the walbro but that’s just my choice
Also I’d Defo get the toucan screen
that works with the alcatec unless I’m wrong and they aren’t compatible with each other

Forge do one aswell that works well and the standard item also I’ve seen on many Imprezas running over 300bhp no problem
