Could well be, sounds like they have been bodged on rather then properly moded to fit. Need to get an auto electrician in by the sound of it, not sure why you didn't get it sorted properly if there were warnings on the dash.

When I take the hand break down them 2 ( P ) lights go off, ignore the colour of the lights I was hanging them to LEDs but obviously following the previous colours was useless because everything's back to front

But you do now, and have a issue with the indicator lights associated with the stalks from the wrong model car, so its the first place Id start, swap to parts that are correct for the car and sell the JDM ones if/when it is sorted,
not a dig just simplest place to start, rather then cutting and soldering to get things working . . .

you are correct rich, but i only used the plastic surround so whatever goes on behind that stays the same, literally is a piece of plastic, i know what your saying though instead of the wiring being different it may be a case of the instrument logos being in different position, that isn't the case.

Surely this is not the first uk car in history to have JDM stalks? maybe that is the fault... maybe you are a genius, equally... maybe there is a wiring adapter i may need?, maybe there is something i need off of a JDM car, im not going to rush out and buy uk stalks when there may be a fix for this....

They are a strange breed are the classics mate.
Jdm came in versions for the STI's only. The UK came as MY97 etc then there are the jDM WRX(not sure what you call them lol) then you've got euro and U.S. And Aussie versions.
They're complicated at the best of times,so when you start adding jDM bits to a UK car then it's a real head *** lol.
Need to have a think about this one but I recon you should get some UK stalks and go from there? I can take a pic of my v3 sti clocks with the warning symbols lit if that would help? Not sure if it would tho? Lol

Tim from jti(also a member on here) does loads of loom conversion stuff,he's an electronic genius by all accounts
Might be worth having a word with him?
I'm still trying to get my head around why you have two parking brake symbols lol
Electronics is defiantly not my strong point

Pulled my spare JDM cluster to bits, and the cut outs are on the piece you've replaced. You'll probably have to replace the UK panel.

JDM cluster might be plug and play, I'm not sure. Got one here though, if needed.
Can't help with the issue of the two (P) symbols being lit, as they aren't present on the JDM panel originally fitted to my car, other than pull the bulbs.
I do know the hand brake light can illuminate if the brake fluid is low, or the float gets stuck, it might be something to do with that.
