Default Rear fog light on JDM

Hey all,

I just took my spec c in to be MOTed and it failed because one of the reversing lights had been "converted" into the fog light but has a white bulb rather than red. This was a scooby dealer and they said they called around places and couldn't find a red bulb that would work and that maybe I would have better chance on the Internet.

They suggest either a red bulb or a red lense but I am not sure where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on what they do?

Thanks!

This is what the reverse light looks like so I need a red version of that. The eBay one is the right wattage and voltage

You need a high powered LED if you are going down the LED route as they need to be brighter than the normal rear lights and as bright if not brighter than the brake lights, so a 7443 30W Cree LED with about 650-700 lumens is what I have fitted

something like this (not cheap): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-30w-T20...oAAOSwqYBWoAVY

The picture looks right but the code on the picture and the code in the advert are different, unfortunately the R580 doesn't fit, it's too wide and rounded.

I might look into that if the other bulb I ordered isn't right. Did you need extra resistors like they mention in the ad?

Would be keen to know if you manage to get the correct bulb to use

I have the JDM lights as below which I'm trying to figure how to change one of the reverse lights to a fog

No resistors required, don't think any newage imprezas have bulb failure sensing

updated the link for the correct LED above

I've just changed mine to an LED bulb.

It's a T20 bulb with red LED's. Was £12 delivered from e-bay.

I had the same problem with the rear bulb, as it's a 25w bulb even red coloured bulbs come out very white.

If that is true I am not sure either. The brake pads seemed on the limit as well but had no advisories.

Yes it is a fail.

Mine has never had a fog light or any cats either.... some garages aren't as careful as others....

This prob is exactly why the jdm hawk rear lights are easier to convert one of the red lights is double eliment (brake n side) the other is just side light change this to double and you get sides and fogs without touching the reverse lights not sure if you could do something similar with the jdm blobeye lights someone's bound to have done so think like this.
