Just got my new quote through and they insist I fit a tracker

Hey Dave,

We fitted Tracker Retrieves to both of ours, also with Tesco. I think they stipulate a certain type of Tracker too so don't put one on they don't approve.

Tesco are part of the priviledge group, and IIRC as long as its Thatcham Cat Q Approved they will be happy.

Many insurance companies now only accept pro-active trackers i.e ones that inform you if the car has been moved/stolen such as Tracker Monitor.

I've also just had my renewal notice thru from Tesco, they will provide you a list of suitable tracking devices. Spoke to 'Tracker' yesterday £269.00 fitted for 'Retrieve' plus £99pa subscription. This unit is fine with Tesco. And, WOW! my premium will be £30 cheaper this year @£586.F/Comp, but I am, (cough) 44

Dont know if there are any cheaper alternatives out there????

Why not try liverpool Victoria/Frizzel insurance company they gave us the best price of all of them even with myhistory

Not intrested if it had a tracker as long as it had a cat 1 alarm on it.

Get a Trackstar - not a Tracker...

Difference is this...

Tracker relies on a police car having a tracking device fitted. In leicestershire, there are three police cars with this device; One is an Impreza (but has been written off), one is an Astra 1.4 and the other a van that is used on Saturday nights to hang around the town center in case of trouble. So if your car gets pinched on a Sat night (high probability?) then, if its available you have either a 1.4 Astra or a Van to lay chase to your souped up Scoob.

RAC Trackstar is monitored night and day by a satelite - the same way that GPS systems work. It is accurate to within 3 metres anywhere in the UK. The centre monitoring your vehicle then relay advice to the police on the exact whereabouts of your vehicle in the event it is stolen.

I know which I prefer....

Scenario 2:

Instead of a joyrider, the car is nicked to order and driven inside a lorry/garage a mile from your house.

Now who can find it? The GPS systems can't because they can't get a satellite signal.

Also, the various systems have other weaknesses, that I won't go into but nothing is 100% effective (not even a bloody great alsatian).

The police also have helicopters available that have the Tracker equipment fitted. Good point about the GPS signal, this is why I prefer Tracker

Q. Do you want a tracker for yourself or just to get your car insured?

Just to gety it insured you want the reterive £199 fitted + £99 / yr. Monitor was xtra £100 Check out recent group buy all info futher down this page or page 2,3 etc.

Or call Adrian Fowler on 07770402111 tell him Neal form Coventry gave posted his number. Ask him if the group buy is still on.

To get one for yourself you pay your price m8 anywhere up to £900

Cheers

Neal
