How can I tell if my alarm has been triggered ?
Last night I heard a car alarm go off close to my house but by the time I was looking at my car the noise had stopped !

Can I tell if it was mine ?

Which alarm? Most, if not all, will flash the LED a set number of times once you unset the alarm to show what sensor was triggered.

 

Should have mentioned that it is the standard UK MY99 alarm
(the Sigma alarm/immobiliser).

you will need to get a dealer or sigma agent to use a cp1 which will tell them what triggered the alarm and how long ago.The cp1 stores all triggers up to 244 counts each circuit

Thanks but how do I know that the alarm has even gone off in the first place - assuming it has I may well go and find out why but I need to know if it has !!

When you open your car it will beep a code to you telling that it has been triggered. The code tells you which trigger has been activated.
If it didnt beep at you when you opened the car it wasnt your car that alarmed.
It beeps the same as it does when you try and arm the car with a door open.
