Default Sigma Alarm

My under bonnet switch is faulty and the alarm doesnt seem to recognise requests when when imputed via the number pad. Is it possible to have these serviced, and where would I go.

I'm presuming that this is a standard UK fit system.
There are two different types of bonnet switch that have been used depending on the age and model of vehicle.

1999-2001MY
The earlier switch is of the telescopic type with a flat spade terminal connection at the bottom. This switch can be obtained from a Subaru dealer(part number no. SACC3472) or a Sigma dealer (part no. Sig AC14T).

2001 onward
The later switch (2001 on) is more reliable than the earlier switch and is easily identified as it is covered by a rubber "bellows" and has a 2-pole connector at the base. This switch is only available from a Subaru dealer (part no. SACC3499) and is not interchangeable with the earlier switch.

The bonnet switch brackets are designed to work with the specific bonnet switch and using a different switch, which may have more or less travel than the original switch, could have an adverse effect on the operation of the alarm and may cause false triggers - particularly on vehicles with alloy bonnets in warmer weather.

With regard the keypad; does the built-in LED above the digits illuminate briefly each time a button is pressed? If not this would indicate that the keypad has no power supply and may have become disconnected from the alarm unit.
If the LED flashes repeatedly after a button is pressed, this would indicate that the programming sequence has been entered incorrectly or the PIN has not been recognised - see notes below.

When using the keypad always observe the following points:
- The PIN number should not be entered too quickly or too slowly - when a digit has been pressed the small LED built into the keypad will illuminate briefly as confirmation and only then should the next digit be entered.
- If an incorrect digit is pressed or the delay between entering digits exceeds10 seconds, then the LED above the keypad will flash rapidly and the PIN attempt should be abborted and started again after 30 seconds.
- Due to the small size of the keypad some users may find a rubber tipped pencil easier to use. DO NOT use the sharp tip of a ball point pen etc, or press excessively hard on the keypad as this will only damage the membrane and cause a digit to remain pressed, causing a continual incorrect PIN.
- The keypad allows only THREE PIN attempts and then will "Lock Up" if an incorrect number is entered a third time. This is a security feature to prevent random PIN attempts disarming the system.

The most common reason for the keypad not operating the system is due to a damaged keypad button membrane as a result of pressing with a sharp object. When the keypad membrane is indented in this way, the alarm sees this as a continual press of the same button, regards this as three incorrect PIN attempts and "locks out" indefinately whilst it sees the digit being pressed.
This can easily be replaced with a new keypad membrane from a Subaru dealer (part no. SACC3463-CVR), these are self adhesive and easily removed with a sharp blade. Once replaced leave the system for at least 30 minutes before attempting to use the keypad.

Should you still be having difficulties your Subaru dealer or Sigma alrm dealer should be able to help. If you contact our sales desk on 0870 417 7795 who should be able to advise you of your nearest Sigma dealer.

If the Bonnet switch is faulty would this stop the key pad from working properly. I can do some functions add bleeps (example) but cannot change PIN -- MY99,

1999 standard uk, if the bonnet switch is faulty will this stop the key pad working 100%. I can add bleeps, auto lock, but cannot change pin as I get constant flashes. I have tried by opening the car and inserting PIN No, but nothing happens.

No, the bonnet switch being faulty won't effect operation of the keypad.

It sounds to me that the PIN you are entering is incorrect - try changing it to a PIN you know using a working radio key as descibed below:

Using a working Radio Key:
- Arm and then Disarm the system using a working Radio Key.
- Within 30 seconds of disarming, type into the keypad- *17856*92*wxyz*wxyz# (where wxyz is your new PIN code)
- Arm the system with the Radio Key
- You should now be able to disarm the system using the new PIN code

This is the only way to do it if you do not know the existing PIN, but this method is not detailed in the current operating instructions.
